NorCal [SF Bay Area]

Post by Beelze » Wed Aug 05, 2009 4:55 pm

Considering the Bay Area's status as geek mecca, I find it odd that there isn't a Northern California thread already. Well, consider that changed.

Is anyone else out there within driving distance of San Francisco?

unfortunatly beez that area is also rife with idiots, i have an in law in the sacremento area that would be down for a brikwar, but hes to snobbish to jump on these forums every now and then to see at getting a game in. and supposedly by the frapper map of brikwars there are several others but they don't put in even an infantismal bit of time at the forums, sad it is

I live in NorCal and would be up for a game. Granted I've never played before (mostly due to an inability to find players in the Bay Area). Granted, I'm an older fart than the age of the "Old Farts" (almost 30) subforum here.

I couple years back I joined BayLUG, hoping to find some players but they hadn't even heard of BrikWars. They were mostly into trains.

Too bad. Before the massive battle in Southern California I spent a lot of time up in SF and Pittsburgh.

I'm in Silicon Valley. I *may* run BrikWars at future conventions in the area. Kublacon is coming up at the end of this month, but I don't feel prepared to run the game publicly yet, as I haven't played it enough myself. Hopefully next year, or at a show in the fall.

I play a wide variety of games at my local gaming store in Santa Clara and I've got a friend down there that I've heard plays BrikWars as well. Haven't seen him in person recently, so haven't asked him yet.

I am cultivating potential opponents currently. Oh, and if 30 is old here, then I must be ready for the Lego version of AARP. well, not really, but the 30's are behind me now.

Talarius, it's good to hear from you.

First, like you, the 30's are behind me. Also, like you, I have very little experience with the game. In fact, I've only read through the rules due to a lack of opponents. I also live in Silicon Valley so I am curious about the "game store in Santa Clara" of which you speak.

If said game store has facilities for running a small game I'd be open to having some very small-scale head-to-head games with you, just so I can get used to actually playing the game. That is, no elaborate scenery or set-up, just a couple guys and small-scale minifig carnage. If your regular store is not the place for this, there is a new game store in Cupertino Square that looks to have some gaming tables as well.

Send a PM if you're interested.

I'll be in the Bay Area (Pittsburg) in the middle of June. Anyone want to face off against the ASE?

I wish I could. :-( I'm in the South Bay and only have a little time each week for gaming. I've only played BrikWars a couple times so far, so I don't quite feel "up to speed" yet. But my custom force is coming along nicely. Make sure to take lots of pictures at your big battle coming up on Saturday. I'm jealous!! :(

I am in San Francisco, not very experienced, but willing to learn. Up for matches. I also have a couple of friends who also are n00bs at playing.
