The Dwarf Mine is so awesome

Post by Bonn-o-Tron » Mon Apr 28, 2008 9:34 pm

Holy crap, talk about a good set. The design for the mine carts is pretty genius, and there's a decent amount of weaponry and armour. The main think that pleased me was the lack of "special" pieces. The designer did a great job of using plain old bricks for this, and it makes me happy that when I eventually dismantle it I'll actually reuse 90% of the parts.

That whole castle line looks amazing. My theory is that they sat down, watched Lord of the Rings, and planned the next two years worth of sets based on the most outrageous parts of the movies.

I bet Lord of the Rings wasn't anywhere near as large on their radar as World of Warcraft. Lego pays attention to where the dollars are going, and no movie franchise can compete with the WoW juggernaut.

Vancouver, winter 2010.
Often, literally, a pillow fight but may include similar situations like volleyball, particularly when wardrobe is skimpy and the action is bouncy.

WoW is fun at first, but it gets boring fast.
I don't see this set on Lego's site. Where is it?

That's B.S.

I bought a Dwarven Mine on sale at a Lego store in West Nyack, New York. I'm at least 70% sure I was in the United States at the time.

The Dwarven Mine was avalible in December at... Target? Maybe it was Toys-R-Us. I didn't get one, but I did just pick up a Troll Battle Wheel. Both sets will be avalible for everyone in June.

Hmmm, that was New York though...

I'll keep my eyes peeled over the summer for this.

One of the things I like about the set are all the little things that come with it. Some of which you can't even tell by looking at the box.

For example, the hidden kitchen in the base of the mountain, complete with fireplace, table, goblet, and turkey leg. Also in the front there's a blacksmith's forge with an anvil and workbench. Things like this are what make well-designed Lego sets extra fun to build.

My favorite part of the whole thing though is the mountain king with his golden helmet and war hammer. This set is hands down my favorite in years and I'm glad it has it's own thread. Just awesome.
