...one more tiny piece of the mosaic that is Rayhawks past clicks into place. I've had another look and can't see many similarities I'm afraid but then I'm no expert or artist. Maybe the girls face, it seems a little similar to Envy.

...but then I see similarities in some of your work like...

...and the old Discworld novel covers

Cool if true! :D

...pretty cool if not true, too. So I think you're covered. Also, in honor of the month of Decembeard:

Oh come on! They're practically the same picture:

Epic hero brandishing his weapons, standing on a pile of skeletons while mayhem rages behind him... well maybe not. But I've even got the same castle back there!

The artist's name is Mike Hussar, the stuff he's known for tends to be weirder than the Evil Dead piece. http://www.google.com/images?hl=&q=michael+hussar

As far as painting style itself though, I was doing a lot more work with Alex Gross at the time and maybe that ended up being a bigger influence on the paint style, although any manliness is definitely still from the Hussar side. http://www.google.com/images?hl=&q=alex+gross

Wow, some dark work there. Interesting but dark.

Sorry, nup. The standing on a hill exultant overlooking the devastation pose has been used in lots of novel/film poster illustrations over many years, even before either of us so I can't accept your answer as anything but a moking piss take. Besides, Benny wouldn't be on a bike, he'd need to have his moobs out and be hugging the DSM's leg or something.

You forget I've been about some even if I am Neanderthal when it comes to art. I don't know the artyfarty name for this style of pose but I'd call it's become Iconic of the 70's+ fantasy genre due to it's use.
