Anybody else here play DEFCON? It's by the same guys who did Darwinia and Uplink... Except it's about thermonuclear warfare. You don't really try to win, so much as loose the least/make others lose more than you. It is one of the most Brikwars-esque games I've encountered. Oh, and the site? http://www.everybody-dies.com/ Yes, "everybody dies" dot com.

Oh yeah, I heard about this back when I got Computer Gaming World, before it got shot to hell. Brings me back. Well, only a couple years. Anyway, I never got around to playing it, but I heard great things about it.

You can actually get the demo at their site... and by "demo" I mean "limited offline, and can't host games." Other than that, it's the full game. It's one of the only (Semi) shareware games I ever bought.

I played this as a boardgame, I think it's just called "Nuclear War" with the expansion :"Nuclear Proliferation."

Twice my hidden cache was the thing that got detonated and ended the world. Good times. :)
It's a secret to everybody.

Oh, I've played that awhile ago now.

Wargames the Video Game

I did like the strategy of trying to predict where the other side was placing their fleets, especially the subs at the same time, sneaking in as close as possible to try and take out his silos once a launch was detected.

On the downside, the lists of casualties, usually in the hundreds of thousands to millions at a wack, added that kick in the groin to any bittersweet victory.

I usually place at least one silo in some dingbat nowhere land for a final, spoilsport nuclear peppering. From hell's heart, I stab at thee...
