When the game does not provide an internal screenshot mechanism, there is always this lovely button on your keyboard that is labled Print Screen.
1. Push it.
2. Paste the picture into an editor. Paint works just fine.
3. Crop it.
4. Save it.
5.

25th of Limestone:
I’ve decided it’s time to start training a military, so I told some of the useless migrants to get to work. Deciding we needed someone with motivation, I threw a stack of paperwork at Cadians and told him he was the militia commander. The look on his face was priceless.
10th of Sandstone:
3 more migrants. Time to form another… wait, a few of these guys are actually useful! A carpenter, an animal trainer, and a craftsman. Meh, we could use the crafts for income. Then again, we have lots more stone then wood. Yup, that bastard’s going in the military next time I see him.
24th of Sandstone:
Orem walked up to me and demanded to be put in the military. My first thought was, why? My second thought was, hell, he’ll do it for free, sounds great. I set him up with our current squad. Maybe he’ll replace Cadians someday. I handed the pick to Ross, and told him to start digging. He gets all of Orem’s old work, cause we haven’t had need for him so far.
25th of Sandstone:
Crap, somebody left a corpse in the dining hall, and now to room smells like crap. Wonderfull. I’ll tell them to start dragging dead bodies outside, maybe drop them in the moat. That, that actually sound like fun.
28th of Sandstone:
Orem’s refusing to become a recruit. He asked for the job, and now he won’t do it! I hand him back his pick, and give him a swift kick in the shins. Course, Ross is going to stay right where he is.
6th of Timber:
Screw it! We’re tunneling to the center of the earth! Anyway, here’s a picture of the local terrain from what I can gather.
10th of Timber:
Piss, the ices is back. Snow can’t be far behind. At least the brook hasn’t frozen over. Yet.
14th of Timber:
We found a huge cavern; I have no idea what to do, better ask for some help
