This is kinda random but I think that If oars are being used then there needs to be a distinction between slave rowers and voluntary rowers because at the first sign of getting rammed or uck the slaves would flip out.

When a ranged attack overcomes the ship's armor, it loses a hull point, and has a 50% chance of losing a crew point.

In close combat, ramming attacks only damage the hull, while boarding only damages the crew.

If a ship loses all hull points, it sinks.

If a ship loses all crew points, another ship in contact with it can move crew points to it, thereby taking over it.
i wholeheatedly agree. this seems simple, but not boring. maybe tweak the 50% thing, but other than that, awesome

Which direction would the 50% thing be tweaked in?

I don't know... but fifty seems a little ambiguous to me... maybe like 35-40%?

Well, you want to be able to settle it with a quick 1d6 roll, so it should be one of 16% (6), 33% (5 - 6), 50% (4 - 6), 67% (3 - 6) or 83% (2 - 6).

Hey now I have new idea, you could roll against the ship's Structure Level. So if a ship with SL 2 loses a hull point, you roll 1d6 and if the result is greater than 2 it loses a crew point.
