I don't have any proto figs, so just assume there is one in there.

Last guy should be holding a spear, gun or eating a pizza. Otherwise, good job with a fun picture. Put it on the wiki as a theory of minifig scientists.

But what about the giant figs with the multijointed arms? They're like the dinosaurs of the species.

They should be in there before the protofigs. I like the analogy with dinosaurs
This should be a proper tree, with offshots - the technic giants can be it's own line from the multijointed giants and from that sprouting mutants and stuff. Also, if it's a tree the caveman can come before normal figs. This could be a community project - someone has a caveman no doubt, just photograph against white background and then anyone can join the pics together.
Also, the peaches should start from a "?" at the side of the standard tree. We don't know where those things originated...

Yeah I don't have any giants or cavemen.
Like any scientific theory its open to peer review and revision.
So if someone has the missing figs, make those blockbots and take a picture.
I think my favorite is the block hybrid with brown legs.

In cladistic terms yellows, browns and peaches are all part of the same monophylic clade where the peaches are the most recent clade branched off from the brownies and together with them they form the sister clade to the yellows.

But less than ten Galactic Revolutions ago all minifigs were yellow. Where have the peaches been hiding all that time?
