Not quite, if the space from the center of one stud to the center of another stud (5/16 inch) represents five feet, then the actual round stud itself is only 2 1/2 feet or so in diamter, ergo your stud sized shells could fit in the trunk of an italian car ...squeezing tightly in that space next to the guy who lost at the races and failed to pay up.

Without leaping for a ruler and frowning over my ships with it in hand I'd say that your estimation of scale would be about right JB. I've thought about microscale, - only it's really just too small for me as I would like to be able to build smaller vessels than the Ironclads and not lose them should I sneeze. I also like some semblance of detail with my space ships which I think is harder to do with Micro-scale.
Empire Scale sounds like a good as name to use as any btw. :)

Smart looking ship the Lyon.

Curious, are you planning on a more French-ish paint job (blue replacement bricks) for the Lyon at Le Dockyards as soon as supplies become available?

'Lyon' really does need to be rebuilt with blue bricks. Unfortunately blue isn't a colour that I have all that much of so I'm going to need to put some on my next Bricklink order. Once that happens the bricks that have been replaced will be used to build another Britannian vessel; - not too sure what that will be as yet :)
