ROCK will always be around in some form, it is the basic from where everything is derived and where everything comes back to, even if it will continue to change and see its many forms continue to evolve... Shit like dubstep has a maximum lifespan of 10-15 years anyway, Rock artists like the Rolling Stones, Deep Purple, The Doors, U2... are the only ones who's names survive the ages and will continue to influence future artists.

Even though rock itself derived from blues which derived from work songs which derived from African tribal songs.

... which no one cares about. It goes without saying Blues will also withstand the tooth of time, Rock was just the best common term in this context because it's very broad and which most music has derived from... Even Metal is a type of rock.

Speaking about Metal, where's our epic thread about Metal gone to? I was just about to share with you my impressions on the (shitload) of new albums I got

Suffice to say Vicious Rumors kicks absolute ass and I haven't heard anything like it before (in terms of style).

Today's alt rock and grunge too, what little of it there is, is generally good.

agreed. Cage the elephant, manchester orchestra, silversun pickups, and arcade fire are great.

The New stuff RHCP and the smashing pumpkins have been releasing is great.
