Started working on my concept for the Housing District. It's... alright... ? I'm a little hesitant to keep building houses with this model, it looks a bit odd. I was trying not to make a "normal" house, and I suppose I succeeded, but...









At any rate, we now have the City Proper, the Bridge, and the beginnings of the Seaside Acropolis and the Wharf and Housing Districts.

BONUS: Just thought this was a cool shot.

the interior of the house is bang-on, but the roof seems a bit...off. Idk, and maybe some circular buildings would go better with the bridge?

I was originally going to use light grey wool, but clay has that nice blue tint in Dokucraft, so I used it instead.

Brief update: flattened some of the area near one end of the bridge for the rest of the residential district. Going to start plotting the layout soon.



EDIT: The aforementioned plotting. There'll be more than these few here scattered down the mountainside and closer to the end of the bridge as well.

Despite the little screaming voice in my head, I've decided to scrap Stormside. I feel like it was too ambitious and too poorly planned.

Now, that being said, I have NOT given up on entering the contest. Thus, I drew up a slightly better plan this time. I found this really neat little valley by the ocean, flanked by two inlet lakes that lead directly out into the ocean (I wish I had written down what seed I used). So, another port city I'm going to try, this one slightly smaller. My outline was as follows:

My plan is to have three central towers, tapered in a sort of "egg" style, surrounded by circular walled portions that curve inwards gently at the top. All three of these walls will let out at a main entrance flanked by plinths, all oriented towards a small plaza with a fountain. The rest of the valley out to the inlets will be housing and residential stuff. Top it all off with some lighthouses, and I'm good to go.

and, off I go! A bit more than one week to get this done, recorded, and sent in to be judged. We'll see if I don't burn out by Wednesday.





Slightly less impressive, I know, but it'll have to do.

Any suggestions for a city name?

EDIT: And, before you ask, I may keep working on Stormside once this has blown over.

Hmm, I don't see it. Also, along that same theme, I'm liking 'Sentinel City.'

Anywho... this time around I'm actually bothering to pay attention to the interiors that I create in the larger buildings, so...
