The Enderman is quite a well thought mob, Im just wondering, if you look at him without staring away and attack, will he fight back?

You can't attack it without looking at it, but it won't attack until you look away, I think. So maybe you could stare it down while you hack it to death.

Or you could just shoot it with your crosshair above it, durr.

The enderman as of now is interesting. Notch says he likes all the really negative effects on the player to be clearly caused by the player's actions(This is really good game design. Learn from him.), so now, the endermen won't bother you until you look at them, then they stop, and when your crosshair moves over them, they attack.
