Mission No. X (Round 4)

Post by Bragallot » Tue Nov 08, 2011 12:17 pm

Round 4

The return of the evil camera...

Lt. Kirsten's Eagle - Lord Mercat

Image

The Eagle's crew kept doing their worst trying to harm the Darkstar. You'd think they would have managed to get at least 1 crit by now.

Image

Even when they flew in to have the EMP towers fire, this wasn't the case... The Darkstar's shields proved too tough.

Col. Sharane's Darkstar - Ham701

Image

The Darkstar got the hell out of the way of the Assyrians.

Image

Then turned to fire on the Mastercutor with the main plasma weapon. Having a fast ship is fun.

Image

"Gotcha."

Image

The Mk. 2 missiles were also fired as the turrets turned to fire on the Assyrians. Oh boy.

Image

Explosions covered the back of the ship as the Mastercutor was knocked down to 1 SP.

Image

The Sargon was hit!

Image

Before she could blow, the crew escaped on the frigates.

Dominator's fighters - RobotMonkey

Image

Both Mobhunters approached the Knight of Santiago, taking care not to get in range of her EMP turrets.

Cpt. Victoria's Mastercutor - theblackdog

(Ok, so the Knight should have gone first, little mistake by me)

Image

Amazingly, the large turret scored another hit (-1 SP, 1 remains).

Image

"That's it, we've almost got them! Lend me the controls to the main gun!"

Image

"Shields!"

Image

Captain Victoria fired true... But the Dragonhead's shields held and the opportunity to destroy the cruiser was squandered.

Image

As a heroic feat, the Mastercutor turned 180° for free and flew back towards the Darkstar, where lasers began to crisscross across the two ships as all of their weapons now came in range. Two shots had already been wasted on the nearby bombers, but the other defense turrets fired.

Image

26 fucking damage :s The Mastercutor even critted its armour roll (10!) but it wasn't enough. In her final ditch effort however, the ship still managed to bring the Darkstar down to her final HP.

Image

"The Captain does not abandon the ship..."

Image

The Mastercutor exploded, taking the remains of the Sargon with her :( The Darkstar's shields protected the ship from the explosions.

Image

The fighters are now on their own with nowhere to return to save for the remote planets below. They chased after the bombers, for now...

Admiral Santiago's Knight Of Santiago - me

Image

The fighter went after the Mobhunters closing in on his mothership.

Image

The bombers flew towards the explosion, finding no more targets there.

Image

The Knight turned slowly as she tried to get away from the fighting.

Image

Her auto-laser turrets fired on the Mobhunters but missed by miles.

Image

Admiral Santiago, realizing he was almost destroyed, succeeded greatly on improving his shields and maximized them for a round.

Brittanian Mothership 'Francis Drake' - mgb

Image

The cruiser closed in, firing on the Eagle with her forward guns as the Admiral himself increased damage output.

Image

Kirsten increased the shields and attempted to steer past the dangerous shots, but this time it sent her right into the enemy blasts! The Eagle took a hit.

Assyrian Frigates - Natalya

Image

Major Skarr: "We're not done yet, men! Keep attacking! For Assyria!"

Image

Two Frigates fired on the bombers with their railguns, destroying one. Skarr's attempt to increase shields failed...

Image

The others flew undaunted through the wreckage and fires and fired their torpedoes at short range...

Image

They hit and could have destroyed the Darkstar, but somehow didn't.

Brittanian Ironclad - piltogg

Image

"ALL HAIL BRITTANIA!" ... "Move faster you blighted idiots!"

Unable to get in range for now, the Ironclad attempted to send some missiles after the Mobhunter fighters, but these wildly misfired.

It's not over... Is it? 8)

Seriously though, I'm trying to find out why the destruction was so swift this battle whereas in Operation Mastercutor it took many rounds to just damage a ship. Either way right now it seems like I really will have to give ships more SP (like 1 for starters) next time.

I'm guessing that with the Immortal ship, you hit some kind of size threshold. Ships in Operation Mastercutor were small to medium, here they range more from medium to large.

Yeah I formulated my ships' stats differently for my battle. We really should make that thread I talked about.
