Man, kinda disappointed. Played release candidate 2, and they really didn;t change anything, other than adding the hardcore mode. Kinda upset they didn't like...y'know, add some...dragons...or..unirabits....or something.

No, they updated plenty. Check out the Minecraft wiki, there's a concise list of changes. It's all pretty awesome, honestly.

None the least of which being that you can walk on lilypads. How cool is that?

Actually, I read it. It's pretty similar to the release candidate 2 features, except they added tool repair, hardcore mode, and a few other little diddies.

Is there actually a game now, or is a sandbox still?

Once killed the Enderdragon will detonate, drop a massive amount of experience(which can be used on the enchantment table to enchant your weapons,armour and even a few tools), and spawn a Dragon Egg on top of an End Portal made of Bedrock. On the second block up, two Torches are placed on either side. Entering the portal will activate an eight minute text cutscene which acts as the end of Minecraft. The player will be teleported to their spawn point in the overworld at the end of the cutscene.

To kill the Enderdragon is the last achievement called "The End." You can continue your game normally after the cutscene. Someone hinted that other boss monsters may be added in future updates..

I've started my first 100% legit SP playthrough earlier today, playing on Hard and Survival (Hardcore is fun but I tend to get lost in caves often and use death as an escape route- with hunger AND having only one life, I'd never beat the game.


I've got a little house set up, massive caves, and giant holes in the ground everywhere. Currently, I'm trying to terraform, build up the house, and dart into the cave systems for ore.

Once I've got enough stone, wood, bricks, and glass I'll set to work building a keep, palisade, and surrounding village. That should give me enough room to create a mine to connect to the caves(and hopefully map them out), a "wizard house" to put my enchanter and potion brewer (enchanters get more powerful when surrounded by bookshelves) and start preparing to kill the Enderdragon.

Tips for fighting the Enderdragon-
1. Wear full diamond armor. It won't be able to do any damage to you.
2. When it is healing at a crystal, destroy that crystal. That should do damage to it as well as prevent the dragon from healing at that tower any further.
3. Use snowballs instead of arrows. It will still be damaged by them, and they fire much faster than arrows.

Dunno how good of a weapon Splash Potions would be against it.
