I knew you could always get normally illegal fireworks in Wyoming, but I didn't know you could get assault rifles at the flippin' Wal-Mart!

The AR-15 is semi-auto isn't it?
That's still legal in most states from my understanding.

Hell, my Dad says he had an AK-47 and a bunch of Armor Piercing Ammunition he bought surplus from some gun dealer.

Illegal? Since when?
You can legally buy a minigun. Why would an AR 15 be illegal?

Automatic weapons are illegal for anyone without a Class III license. If you aren't a gun dealer or gun museum, you can't get one.

The AR 15 is semi auto. The AK was probably semi auto.

There's a handful of firearms that predate certain laws, and so you can occasionally find things that can be traded freely in certain states. I once saw a 1919 Thompson at a gun range. The guy who was using it told me he paid $20k for it.

Yeah, some automatics are legal without a class 3 if they're older.

Fun fact: Miniguns require no special licensing. I learned that from Cracked. They just kinda figure that if you can buy one, you don't need to commit any crimes with it.

My dad actually has an illegal Saturday night special that he thinks was stolen from an armory. He took it from my uncle, who bought it in case he lost a bar fight.

Blargh, junk guns.

Something like that is fine if its the only thing you've got, but it isn't *that* much of a hassle to get a carry license and a pocket holster for a Kahr PM9 or similar.

But there's enough calories in one to last you all day if you're not that active, so that could strech out longer.

When I was doing Wilderness Survival merit badge in Boy Scouts we had some guy buy us a bunch of these, the summer and winter versions. If I remember correctly the winter meal had something like 5000 calories in it. I was a fat little kid and I ate the whole thing in one sitting. There was this giant energy bar that was filled with butter and all kinds of other gross things. It was a pretty awesome meal, I guess.
I also remember there are some packages where you pull a string and it cooks a stew inside itself in a few minutes and you can tear it open and eat.

Honestly I think the cheapest way to eat is just to learn how to cook, you can always buy vegetables cheap and cook them up however you want. Pizza is also insanely cheap if you make it yourself (and it's SO easy).

Also if the world does end everyone will want to hang out with you cause you can cook them better food than they could scrounge up themselves.

Meh, it really is a pretty terrible gun. The one time I shot it, it jammed after two shots. Good to keep hidden in a desk or some other small place, though.

But vegetables don't stay good for years.

And Vaults aren't really viable. Civilians don't have that kind of budget. :P

Why are we assuming that the end of the world will come in nuclear form though? If your dealing with nuclear fallout, you're probably not going to live long enough to starve.
