Re: Radar and Radios
We're just talking the targeting ability, there's no reason that a radio should grant stealth. And there's no reason someone with a class's equipment shouldn't be able to have some semblance of those abilities either! Juggernaut Armor, Potions of Beserk rage...

BrikThulhu eats 1d6 minifigs each turn.
Re: Radar and Radios
Hate to double post, but I just had an interesting idea.
Communications relays. Put a limit on the range of a radio, but any radios that share a relay can communicate. If a player wants to extend the signal further, he'd have to build more relays.

I like this. That way, no one can have scouts just point out targets to artillery that's all the way across the board, and with each relay all interception rolls get +1.
Re: Radar and Radios
What's wrong with pointing out targets across the board? That's how artillery works in real life, after all.Robot Monkey wrote:I like this. That way, no one can have scouts just point out targets to artillery that's all the way across the board, and with each relay all interception rolls get +1.

Then some douche would park his artillery behind full cover and just slam everything with hot steel death pie all game long. Besides, the +1 to interception rolls makes it that much more challenging.
EDIT: added new stuff to the OP.
Re: Radar and Radios
Yeah, welcome to modern warfare. But that's okay; put a priority on taking out the Scouts, and all that artillery becomes useless. I set up the Use ratings to make sure that artillery is super inaccurate at those kinds of ranges, in any case; you should have plenty of Missed Shot inches to use to direct enemy artillery rounds directly on the heads of the enemy artillery scouts.Robot Monkey wrote:Then some douche would park his artillery behind full cover and just slam everything with hot steel death pie all game long. And most importantly, it means we get to make cool scout figs. I'm gonna put some Brickforge green berets on dudes and give them submachine guns

Actually, I like that idea, stubb. I'll probably repurpose my spy minifig into a scout.

I have some scouts, but no real artillery. Just a bunch of tanks.

Same here, except I use shotgun-wielding giant robots.Ben-Jammin wrote:I have some scouts, but no real artillery. Just a bunch of tanks.

Technically, a Mortar is a size 2 launcher with a deployable mount.
