Yeah, there are a ton out there. Oddly, it's a really hard mecha to build out of Lego because of the distinctive domed head.

If you check out Soren's photostream you can see how he addresses similar issues with round shapes.

And the domed shoulders - not to mention the sliding visor. The other problem is that, if you're building it at minifig scale, the inside of the head also needs to be hollow enough to fit a dude's head. That said, I actually solved the shoulder problem the other day, and made some sweet-ass ball turrets in the bargain.

Let's be fair, I mostly deal with round shapes by avoiding them or finding a faceted solution to the same problem and saying 'close enough'.

Oh, so, who wants a lineup of all the Chubs I've built so far? I have about 18-20.

I love these guys! They bear an uncanny resemblance to the "Chub" frame. Is this intentional?

It Is the Chub frame! The Chub is the favored design for the UMFL because of its simplicity and low cost. By standardizing parts across different companies, they can build new mobile frames and keep them repaired much more easily when on the move.

(Soren designed the Chub for Mobile Frame Zero. He's the frame designer for the game.)

That's what I thought. I also built a couple of my own Chubs for my faction, The United Earth Nations.

Within the Mobile Frame Zero continuity, the UN uses the more comples ST-09 Rumble Monkeys. The ST-07 Chub is a low-cost design to be constructed out of local materials.

You'll note that Captain Estar's frame uses the head from an ST-09. She didn't mail order it.

(Not that there's any particular reason to care about official MFZ continuity. It's your game, do what you want with it.)

Hey there two! Miss me? I've been right here all along, but I can't post pics from my phone to here for some reason and without pics posting seems pretty useless. Especially with all the hazing. Gotta say it you guys are bigger dicks than the scum over on the GWAR forums. And for that I will always love you. HAIL FLATTUS! !HAIL GWAR
