Possible Zupponn Mining Co. Dreadnut
So, I actually got off my fat ass and built something yesterday. I was trying to build a dreadnut when I started, and I'm pleased about how it came out.
This is the front. The dreadnut is equipped with a dual cannon arm and a gatling gun on the other arm.
The side view.
Here's the back. Note the place for attachments on the dreanut's back. I'll get to those later.
And here's the other side.
The first attachment that I want to show is the wings attachment that makes the dreadnut look like some sort of demon.
The other attachment I came up with is a giant jetpack for the dreadnut.
So, there you go. I'm not sure which attachment I like more, but both could be useful depending on how I plan on using the dreadnut. I'm thinking of making it a Zupponn Mining Co. unit. The backstory would be something like that it was an ancient machine discovered while digging in an asteroid. Upon discovery, the machine activated and started killing the miners and the ZMC soldiers sent in to protect them. Eventually Zupponn himself went to take on the dreadnut and after a short engagement it recognized Zupponn as a worthy opponent or as a person from a certain bloodline and swore to serve the ZMC to the end of its days.
So, let me know what you guys think! I personally think that it's one of my best creations so far, drawing inspiration from a few different other peoples' dreadnuts, but if you guys see anything you like or dislike, let me know. I am always grateful for feedback.

The idea is there, but it lack joints dude. This way it simply looks like some sort of tribute statue to the dreadnut. Try making his torso and weapon mounts twist and tilt. It will make the dreadnut way more interesting and playable.

But that would require more work!
Ah, well. I can make the torso swivel for sure. I was trying to make the arms swivel yesterday, but was having problems with the arms, as the joints I was using weren't staying put. Their weight was making them face the ground all the time.

Simply try out a pair of these with these . I'm pretty sure they can support the weapons weight.

I was using that. The arms wouldn't stay put.

Re: Possible Zupponn Mining Co. Dreadnut
Okay, I found a way to get around the problems I was having! Here's the dreadnut updated:
As you can see, the dreadnut's main body is virtually unchanged, except for the addition of a little dark grey to give it a little more character and make it less bland.
The arms and legs now have joints so that it can stand on one leg by itself, provided you have a flat surface.
The jetpack still fits on the back too, with only a very minimal change to it.
The wings needed no modification to fit on the dreadnut.
And I didn't forget the swivel for the main body, making this dreadnut my favorite thing that I've made to date.

I think the pods on the back would be much cooler rocket artillery than jetpacks, but that's just me.

Definitely keep the wings. Plus, now that you've got hinges, plop a plate or a flag piece in there, and make some skirting armor for those leg joints! looks cool, AND it protects your vitals!
It's smaller than other dreadnuts, but the wings change the scale pretty immensely. I'd also love to see that jetpack turn into a weapon!

I see what you mean. I could try to bring the arms in closer to the body and see how that works. The leg hinges seem a bit trickier though. I might need a briklink order for those.

It's awful skinny for a dread (length not width). Maybe keep the jetpack/rocket pod/whatever that is on there on permanently.

Re: Possible Zupponn Mining Co. Dreadnut
Yeah, the jetpack/rocket things do beef it up some, but I really like the look of the wings. The downsides of both are that the jetpack/rockets provide a little balance issues, while the wings are sort of fragile right now and fall off quite easily.

It dances! Those are some great attachments. If you're up for it, perhaps you can give it some different weapon options, such as flamethrowers, claws, chainsaws, an acid hose, a vacuum cleaner, etc.

Hells yeah!Pwnerade wrote:It dances!
Maybe in the future, but right now I'm liking the weapons as they are. I might modify the gatling gun to make it look cooler, but that would be about it.Pwnerade wrote:Those are some great attachments. Re: Possible Zupponn Mining Co. Dreadnut
Personally, I am not a fan of the wings. Compared to the industrial main body, the wings look flimsy and fragile. I would made a smaller, black and red demon using the same techniques you used to make this one, but sleeker and use the wings on those. Just my 2 cents.
