Coincidently, I just happen to be playing through War for Cybertron (girlfriend grabbed a cheap $10 copy for me), and while it's fun... Maybe I just rushed through it. But it doesn't come across as epic looking as the screenshots made it look. Don't get me wrong, it's cool, but.. Lacking in some way. The characters (well, Megatron and Soundwave in particular) come across very wooden.
Megatron: "DARK ENERGON will give me the ULTIMATE POWER"
Any Other Character: "This is a bad idea.."
Megatron: "I WILL NOT BE DENIED! Give it to me!!"
Other: "But sir.."
Megatron: "The ULTIMATE POWER to control Cybertron!!"
Other: "...."
Taking down Omega Supreme came across as not-quite-as-epic as it should have felt. I mean, I just offed this giant titan of an Autobot basically by myself, simple little Megatron, but.. It didn't feel that way. It was cool, yeah. But not epicly cool.
Granted, I have no G1 attachment, really, so maybe that's a factor. Maybe I just lack the nostalgia factor.
All that said, it is fun. Transformation and such is very fluid, weapons are cool (though a few have ridiculous bloom that makes them basically useless to try and aim), and being able to play as Megatron or Starscream or Skywarp, all very cool. And the Autobot campaign seems somewhat better so far. Optimus is a man of action by necessity and all that, which gives his character some depth. Interesting dialog on their side. Breaking out of Kaon prison is where I'm at. Dummy. Of course Prime isn't there. Ect.
All in all, fun, if seemingly short. Might replay some of the earlier levels, I kinda just sped through them.
