But of course, after much trial and error, I now have a decent squad of 4. Maybe get one more to round it out.

There isn't anything wrong with getting a dark knight, even in a sci-fi battle a wormhole could spew him out as an NPC.

Wow, Thesson is a little bitch. I mean, complaining when he gets an Evil Knight?

Implying the Evil Knight wouldn't make a legit badass Chaos Marine if you give him a gun...

I managed to get four of these Space Marines. If only I had 20000 more... Sigh.

I thought I had an evil knight once.
What I thought was armor and a sword? Hippie hair and a flower.

I thought I had an Evil Knight,
but it turned out what I thought was a Helmet turned out to be a Red Riding Hood...
Still,
this is the piece you are feeling for, the collar is the biggest tip-off but note that it also has two handles on the back as well.

I have an almost perfect record of feeling out the minifigures I want, it's like a super power.

Yeah those hippie's are tricksy. The hair is so huge that you think "OMG ITS SPACE ARMOR!!1111... oh wait it's just a fawk'n hippie..."
The major difference I've felt between the black knight and space marine is that the black knight's breastplate 'flexes' but the space marine's armor is rock solid. So you grab the armor piece and squeeze it... there's a distinct flex or bounce to the black knight's armor.
If you're at an official Lego store ask one of the duders in the yellow aprons what they got =) Usually one of them is hoarding often sought after figures and will give you them. One guy had 1 marine and 2 knights so I only had to find a few more myself. Also if it's not busy they will help you find what you want and they are fast. They also know things "we just refilled this bin" or "eh, this batch here is really picked over... try over there".

The only mistake I've ever made was trying to get my first Marine- I wasn't diligent and I accidentally got an Aztec (confused his headdress for the armor).
Since then I've pulled four Marines, but only two for myself.

I finally found collectible minifigs! In an awkward place too. While going on a beer run for a surprise party at the local grocers, I noticed on a shelf near the register when paying. Unfortunately it wasn't the best opportunity to buy some as you might guess.
