I do it because i feel obliged. I still like America, it just scares me what the people who live there do. Gotta remain dominate in this kind of stuff.

Having done both, I can say that they are practically the same. The only differences are the symbols and the Americans' greater willingness to subscribe to the messages put forth without questioning their validity. For example, Canada does not seem to make as big a deal about being the best country in the world as does the USA.

Whatever that even means.

The celebrations themselves appear to be equally redneck, people shooting off walmart fireworks or drinking beer and eating hotdogs. The thing I went to here was a carnival before the fireworks, so it was the same as any American one, except they sold Canadian paraphernelia as souvenirs and they had poutine at the fries stand. Fireworks were about the same, but the end ones were red and white. Again, same things but different symbols.

Aside from that, today was a good Fourth, despite the lack of fireworks in CO. I also had to explain to my Bible-Nut grandpa that the sun is, in fact, a star.

Within a few decades Gunpowder Treason Day, as it was known, became the predominant English state commemoration.

So i suppose it is the "National" day for the English.
