Large Clone Armies & boneriffic Battles

This Guy
vs
this guy.

Also, looking at that second guy's stuff, why are all star wars lego battles like this?
If I were to do one, it would look a bit more like this.

Some people play Brikwars, others collect stuff. I have quite some mini's myself but I'd never want so many of the same type. I think it's a waste of the mini's really 'cos hey, imagine how much cheaper clones (parts) would be if not for these two guys... lol, but I still don't understand the hate this kind of stuff evokes (like in the Youtube comments). I hope they use them to recreate some epic SW scenes and don't just have them stand around gathering dust. Wishful thinking maybe?

That animated battle was pretty cool, although it could've been better I think that guy was just trying to start off simple.

THEY'RE ALL THE SAME GOD DAMMIT!

I am aware that a lot of them are by 10 year olds, but 10,000, and in a lot of cases, 100,000 views each!? Come on!
I've got an idea, let's all make "501st delta omega shadow squad droids vs clones EPIC after affects defaults SFX" videos, featuring two lines of clones and droids standing around and falling over.

Well, i imagine for 10 year olds everything that involves Clones is awesome not matter how crap it really is. Be it the movies, animated series or huge collections of Lego Cloanes.

I guess so...I just really want to see a good one, one that actually earns the title 'epic', shows droids as being the brutal merciless killing machines they should be, and doing away with after affects streamers. But then again, maybe one day I'll :diy:

I personally thought the clones were pretty awesome until the new animated series and the clonetards came about and effed it all up. Not to mention how all the freaky jedi show up and steal the spotlight from our awesome cloned warriors. Now we have sharpie and ice cream clones that just look like crap. I have a rather large clone army (in fact its my biggest army), and I have never attempted to modify them in any way other than purist methods. Now I have an army that not only looks good but also is effective in a brikwar. The only ones I really can't stand are those orange "ordinance specialist" clones. They're practically screaming "Hey, I'm right here, shoot me!" with that dreadful armor they wear.

@Forlorn: You just gave me a great idea with that saving private ryan clip. I'm no good at making videos, but I think a Brikwar is in order!

Well they're babby's first spacemarines, I wonder what would they play if they'd pick up 40k... I think why clone armies are boring as fuck is the fact that they require no effort at all, just a shitton of money and hoarding gratuitous amounts of the same damn figure. They totally lack the character and charm of an original trooper design.

You care waaaay too much. No one's forcing you to watch those vids.

While I agree having only generic clones is bad clones aren't so bad if they can blend in with others, Warhead used them as PLA troopers and it was awesome. I never bought any of the new clones because I hate the faces though, ugliest Lego have ever done by far. The torso designs also didn't change for the better. I prefer the first wave of clones, that small walker was a sweet set imo.

The reason we see so many clone armies is more because of the popularity of the franchise and I think people who hoard them are Star Wars geeks rather than true Lego fanatics in general.

BUT, I think of it in this way: the HP line was a disaster for the Lego Company (at least for a while), the Clone Wars sets really helped them out.

See, I would totally make a proper video if I just knew how to do stop motion.

was it? all I know is that I'm badly regretting not buying any while they were out, there were some neat pieces in the sets.

Pfft. Gayvid Hall, a rich :bitch: McFaggotson who's Wall Street parents bought him everything. He uses those those thousands of dollars to buy more clones to make more money to buy more clones etc. He's a cancer to the entire community.

I love the fact that they're so over-the-top ugly, it makes it very believable that Peach is a horrible disfiguring virus.

Actually,

I believe these are the ugliest heads ever made by lego.

@Snakemittens: that film was epic.

When it comes to clone armies, I try to take my force with a bit of reality and organize them into effective squads and specialist roles, rather than having hordes of the white grunts that are often seen. My army runs at about 60-70 clones, nothing compared to what is seen in those vids. My droid army is about the same size as my clone force. I'd really like to build a comparable Imperial force, but right now I only have about 15-20 stormtroopers and like 3 AT-STs and one AT-AT.

Perhaps I should do a Brikwar where the clones fight my Calvarians? It would be awesome to see how they stood up against a significantly larger force!

Well I have been dinking about with the idea for a Construction Toy Internet review show in the same vain as Internet Personality Vange1us, with my first set being the Battle of Naboo.

Since we can't have Jar Jar and (more importantly) the awesome Roos Tarpals dying, they'd be saved by a small ragtag squad of clones (7913 Clone Trooper Battle Pack) who'd we then follow through a continuing narrative.

Admittedly, there are a few good battles in the CG series, but it all too often falls victim to "Hollywood Tactics" like in the movies.

Well it would be nice if they only had one in a larger set or two with some kind of big explosive device, since they are the bomb disposal guys...
...But yeah, why the hell they make up half of a battle pack I'll never know.

The ones in my little narrative are only their because the Munitions dump they were stationed at somehow got transported like everything else.

Yeah, that's the big problem with a lot of Clone tactics in the Movies and CG series...
They focus too much on having a large number of troops clearly visible, but just standing there shooting instead of acting like they are in a real firefight!

The Droids at least have an excuse; they are purposely made stupid in order to prevent them pulling a Skynet and their LACK of self-preservation coupled with sheer numbers give them a psychological advantage.
