VoL troops and tank (Updated 11/22/12 with Wyrm dropship)

Although the Immortal warlord Caleb has only a few Immortal followers due to his untrustworthiness and constant scheming, he has attracted a large number of VoL troops. Lured by the promise of glory and loot, they act as his shock troops and escorts in combat.

Image
Their leader, Mad Lord Bjorn, wields a heavy assault rifle and an OT beam saber. Also, he prefers to be called 'differently sane' these days.

Image
Close combat squad. The squad is led by a flame trooper, and its heaviest hitters are the two shock troopers, both of whom are armed with OT Nova Swords. With their glowing orange weapons, matte black armor, and terrifying helmets, shock troopers are among the most terrifying foes in the Galaxy. Rounding out the squad are two Acolytes with shotguns and spears.

Image
The ranged squad is led by a commander with an assault rifle and SMG; its members carry two heavy assault rifles, one rocket launcher, and one blast cannon.

Image
The 'Salamander' tank destroyer is an immensely powerful weapons platform. Its low profile makes it a difficult target and allows it to fire its main gun freely while its hull remains behind cover.

Image
Sponson-mounted heavy miniguns make it dangerous for infantry to get close. These larger miniguns can match the range of most anti-tank rocket launchers, providing superb defense.

Image
The main gun makes extensive use of OT technology, giving it enough firepower to blast through tank armor or immolate entire bunkers. However, this is the :sparta: universe, where that much power isn't always enough... so this weapon is able to overload its power generators to deliver an even more powerful blast against fortress walls or STDs. The increased power comes at a price, however...

Image
In order to vent excess heat generated when the gun fires at full power, the armored reactor housing must open up, exposing the ORANGE TRANSPARENT core. A direct hit to the core while it is exposed will destroy the tank and probably anything near it as well.

Those OT nova swords look like they are made of delicious delicious candy corn. This army looks like what vol would look like post-apoc in my mind. Great work! :D

Thanks. My camera doesn't photograph ORANGE TRANSPARENT very well, unfortunately. And siding with Caleb makes these guys essentially 'renegade' VoL.

I remember owning these guys. It was fun.

Hey this reminds me of that awesome tank that transformed into a mech someone posted waaaay back (I no longer remember who it is). That was my favourite creation of all time (that I've seen on this board) so it should say a lot about this creation as well.

I think it was Elmagnifico.

Anyway, for a "rogue" army they have pretty badass equipment.

That tank is the nuts, but the infantry could use a little help.

I've already done a little bit of redesign work based on Tuefish's vol troops, but there's only so much I can do with the limited parts supply. Equipping everyone with a red visor, for instance, is pretty much impossible.

I've had to scrap my VoL as well due to a lack of parts (I started using them for black knights and inquistadores).
