Actually, the opposite is true.

Canada was the country that supported Britain with mercantile goods through several wars, as well as men. Canadians advanced the furthest in WWI and fought some of the toughest battles of the war. We supported Britain with very useful supplies such as munitions, wheat and steel.

Same in WWII.
