Smallscale Deathmatch

Post by Zahru » Tue Sep 02, 2008 12:46 pm

This battle took place on the 26th of August, at my friend's (a.k.a zirrian) . Each of us controlled a small 5 member "army" (4 minifigs and a hero), + a "spawn point". If a Minifig was shot down, the killer's team gained 1 frag point (2 points if a hero was shot down). The Slain Minifig then revived at his spawn point after 1 turn (For a hero it was 2 turns). The player who gained 10 points first one the battle.

Now, to the pics:

My team (a.k.a. Red Fists):

(from left to right)
Grenadier (long-range weapon, which fires explosives, 1 turn to reload it)
Standard trooper #1: (shortrange gun+melee ax)
Mr. Pain, the hero (2 pistols)
Standard Trooper #2: (a longrange gun)
MagicNinja (7" movement, shock troop, a katana)

zirrian's team (a.k.a SwFanboyz):
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3396455
2 rebels with shortrange guns
2 rebels with long-range guns
The Hero armed with 2 shortrange guns

My memory is not perfect but the battle happened something like this:

The Overwatch of the field (note: the guy one the top of the tunnel is a statue, and the darth vader figure is a prop too)

The troops, armed and ready for killing:

And so it began...

So part 2:

First kill came for zirrians team, his hero blasted standard trooper #1, gaining 1 frag.

A small Overwatch after the first turns:

The next memorable moment came when my grenadier aimed into the tunnel where zirrian's hero and one of his rebel were:

And with a lucky roll, he blasted both of them out of existence(for some rounds at least), gaining 3 frags for me:

Later, Mr. Pain fired with both guns on one of the rebels, giving him a headshot and another frag for me:

After these events the field looked like this:

To be continued, hope you like it (4:1 for me now)

Part 3:

The field looked like this after the mentioned events:
http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Axona ... erview.jpg

One of zirrian's rebel was hiding between the tunnel wall and a wreckage prop, until the grenadier of mine fired, and blasted him up (+1 frag):

And reformed the whole battlefield:

A small Overwatch (again):

And zirrian's hero returned to the filed, and to show this, he instantly blasted standard trooper #1... again (+1 frag for him):

This was followed by a swift headshot dealt by standard trooper #2 (+1 frag for me):

The MagicNinja was quite passive all the time, but now he get's the chance... and fails (+1 frag for zirrian):

Coming with part 4: the final clash and the aftermath (6:3 :D ).

It sucks to post links to the pics. A new window on each photo with the description in yet another window sucks. Try to put everything in the same place, please. TY.

i actually prefer this style, actually. you can just... not click things you don't find interesting, and it doesn't take a couple seconds for the pictures to all load.

Okay; I'll do my best on my next battle review. I thought it would be better to deeplink them instead of waiting for the folder to become public...

But first let me finish this one:

The most epic part of the battle came when zirrian's and my hero attacked eachother in a giant jumping-flying-shooting feat. Dice were rolling...
http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Axona ... rofeat.jpg

... and it ended with killing off zirrian's hero. Again. (1 frag for me):
http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Axona ... sswfan.jpg

A quick field Overwatch:
http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Axona ... erview.jpg

Zirrian's rebel lerans the meaning of all guns blazing, when both of my standard trooper's shot him (1 frag):
http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Axona ... hotted.jpg

By now zirrian had 3 frags, and I had 9. Finally, I gave him the killing blow, by shooting one of his rebels down by my hero.
http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Axona ... kills1.jpg

SwFanbyoz are defeated!
http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Axona ... toast_.jpg

The remains of the field:

So this was our small killing spree. The reviewing had some flaws (huge pics, deeplinking, etc...), but I'll try to correct my errors in the next review. But I hope that you still enjoyed it.

The deeplinking doesn't bother me. This forum doesn't resize pictures, so these pictures would have been too big for the screen had you posted them to the forum. It's less inconvenient for us to click on a link to see your pictures than it is for you to spend time resizing each of them in Photoshop. The concept of using kills instead of "last men standing" to determine victory is an interesting one.

Cuz lord what would we do without those couple of seconds??

However, in case anyone was wondering, when you upload pictures photobucket has the option of automatically resizing all your pics to a manageable size. Sure, it's harder than brickshelf sometimes, but I think the resizing is worth it.

it actually really pisses me off sometimes.

actually, some programs make resizing really annoying, and for a lot of people it's actually extremely inconvenient for them to go through each individual picture and do the entire resizing process. and all we REALLY have to do is just click a link to take us straight to the picture, which we can see in high resolution if we want.

That's why i use Photobucket to resize them. But that's me.

My camera takes some HUGE pictures.
