Blasphemous Statues and the Freedom of Speech: Medieval

Post by Scratch » Wed Oct 10, 2012 12:32 pm

When the widely known sculptor, Ben Gazi, started a series of giant statues depicting the Dragon God and his battle with Death, the entire Dragon Priesthood is up in arms, mainly due to the poor quality of the workmanship. Some cutthroats and mercenaries have shown up to protect Ben as he labors on his really cruddy looking art, and the Black Flame with a company consisting of Dark Spearmen and a company of Braagvosi Arquebusiers led by the famous Amadeus Von Brag. The Priesthood sent one of their finest battle skilled Dragon Priests to lead a company of Zealots, with a small riot's worth of pissed peasants and two Beasts of the Wrath.

The two morally opposed armies on either side of the construction site.

The troops from the Red Company, sent to protect freedom of speech.

Image
The Dragon Priest's army, supplemented by rioting peasants and Beasts of the Wrath.

Image
Close up on the Wrath Beast, these are highly pose-able and also fairly fragile, I included them mainly so that I can prove that I do not completely suck at making creatures, the statues are stupid on purpose.

Image
Defender's fortifications, with one archer and several halberdiers guarding the gate.

Image
Ben the sculptor and his bodyguard, Sen.

Image
The statues, the objective of the Dragon Faction is to destroy both statues and kill the sculptor as a warning.

Image
Image
Initiative rolls, Dragon D6 is for the Dragon Faction of course.

TURN 1

Image
The Dragon Zealots moves up, the Priest fails a heroic feat for speed.

Image
After a successful feat for speed, the Braagvosi move to take point on the hill, while the spearmen move to flank.

Image
The Crossbow Wench misses a shot.

EPILOGUE

Image

Image
Well, at least I got one thing out of this.

Image
THE (technically) WINNERS!

While the Hollow won a moral victory, the lands of the Red Company shall not be plagued by Hollow raiders for a good time, Amadeus' gunmen would have been valuable, but they served their purpose, and it is never a good Idea to send Spearmen to flank, at least not these Spearmen.

More like Sen's Art Gallery.

The Dragon D6 was a cool trinket from the renaissance fair, on the 1 it has a dragon's head, and the other sides are carved to look like the dragon is curling around the die.

What's worse is that he wasn't even trying to be a ninja, just a wandering archer with some fire associations.

Definitely can't see the dragon on that die from the picture lol. Now that you've pointed it out i kinda see it, but for a long time it just looked like a melted lump of plastic you home-made into some dice or something lol.

The full dragon is hidden from view, unless viewed from a 3/4 or so angle, the face is on the 1, the wings curl around on the 2 and 3, with the neck on the edge between them. It does look like it could have been made by a dragon melting it, if viewed from a distance.

Zupponn, you should have a grudge against this particular dragon priest, after all, she burned your Icon,

I was rooting for him too, I have always liked the idea of a last, limbless, dude fighting for life on the brink of destruction. I think that started in Bluebright's battle report where there is this one astronaut, last of his kind. He got cut in half, and trapped on a small island in the middle of lava. While the battle was raging around him, seemingly uncaring for him.

Then that happened.
