So I've recently come up with an idea for a line I think Lego should pick up, and I couldn't really find a good place to talk about it. The next logical step was to create a new topic to get everyone's attention, and also to get feedback on the idea. But since I'm creating this thread, I'd might as well make it about everyone else, too.
This is kind of like a forum version of CUUSOO, where you talk about some set or line you'd like Lego to make. I know this is going to fill up with "THEY SHOULD DO THIS MOVIE BECAUSE IT'S SO GOOD" and "WE WANT FUCKING MILITARY STUFF," but I hope it doesn't. Try to post things you think are actually valid things that are plausible.

My idea:
1) One thing that I've recently found strange was that Lego has incorporated a lot of everyday stuff into the City theme. Police and fire fighters are their poster boys for the theme, due to all the action you can get from those sets, but we've seen some more neutral sets recently (like garbage trucks and some houses). That being said, one thing that seems non-existent in Lego City is school - which is weird, because it's how their target market spends most of their day.
I really think we could see some good sets come from a City School line. Of course, I'm not saying they could come out with wave after wave of school stuff, but it could be one of those extra waves that just adds on to Lego City, rather than making another police or fire ATV. Here are some set ideas I had:
School Bus: comes with a school bus and a section of sidewalk or something with a little bus stop.
Minifigs - driver, 2 students (maybe a new backpack piece?) and a parent.
Note: They could even make a large and small bus if they wanted to stretch out the line a bit.
Wheel Trans Bus (it's called Wheel Trans where I live, I just didn't know whether it was more proper to say "disabled" or "handicapped"): This set would just be the bus, because I just don't think it need a bus stop.
Minifigs - driver, student in wheelchair (maybe new piece?) parent
Playground: comes with a slide, monkey bars, and one of those spinning things that I've never seen IRL before, but seem to be in every playground in movies, toys, etc. (there was even one in the playground in Resistance: Fall of Man).
Minifigs - 3 students, teacher on yard duty (could have a printed whistle)
School Play: I think this would be done best as a fairy tale play, it would come with appropriate set pieces (maybe a tower and a tree). It would also some with a small row of seats and the actual stage.
Minifigs - going by what seems to be the norm for school plays in kids' media, you could have a boy dressed as a knight/prince, girl dressed as a princess, play director/teacher, and maybe some random-ass parent to sit there.
For the actual school, they could probably just make an open-backed building like all of their City buildings are. Rooms could include a principal's office, some generic classrooms (but with themed props like a globe, beakers, etc.), a library (with some computers to keep it up-to-date and relatable), a lunch room and a storage closet for the caretaker.
Minifigs - principal, some students (amount would depend on size), some teachers, caretaker
The only problem I see with this kind of thing is that kids don't tend to be a fan of school, so I can see why they might not sell well. But then again, they keep making garbage trucks, and that's not exactly a glamorous job. I guess there's always the factor of connectedness that comes with that, though. I get that kids don't want to relive their school days when they're playing, but I think that for some kids it could add that extra something that connects them with their Lego. Maybe it would make Lego less of a toy, and more of a method of childish self-expression. Or it might just bomb. The only way to know would be to do some field testing.
I'd be interested to hear Mike's thoughts on this, or whether it's already been considered and shot down.
