I wish EA would die and let some other studio make their games.
If any other company had the Madden franchise, we'd be smashing eachother's giant robots with spiked footballs by now.

It really seems like the initially very wide pool medium-size of video game devs have been weeded out by the few very successful ones (think about Warcraft II era Blizzard, and today Blizzard, or 80s EA versus today EA) so now all that is left is super-conglomerates that own everything and tiny niche devs with under a dozen employees.

Actually the same can be said for most industries... retail, agriculture, mining.... is this just a natural consequence of economies of scale?

That makes sense. The thing is, what will happen when the small devs start making better and more popular games than the big name companies? We've already started to witness that.

Me and a few friends are making a fighting game, once the alpha is made I might post it. But if we ever got bought out, it would be by Epic games, Sega, or Nintendo.

Got these in yesterday: Image

Courtesy of Wal-Mart, two for $30. One went to the girlfriend, one is all mine. All the basic bricks a guy could want for an afternoon of classic building! These are the same as these which Lego has for $50 just in a hex box and a steal cause of Black Friday. Can you say WHAT UP? :boss:

Local Toys R Us still had Series 7 minifigs!

Galactic Badasses x4
Death Knights of Ossum x1
Buxom Viking Godess of War and Fertility x1
Aztec Plumed Ninja x1
Big Bad Wolf Jail Bait x1

Admittedly I didn't really want to get Red Riding Hood or the Aztec dude but that's ok; they are pretty cool. I mistook the Aztec guy for a Galactic Patrol and Riding Hood's basket felt like Black Knight's armor.

Aztec dude's torso and helmet are totally sweet and reusable.

Yeah he's cool; I totally agree. I'm not mad I got him and Red ... just wasn't particularly looking for them. Red's hood is pretty cool. Female minifigs are uncomon to begin with so it's nice to have more. The basket is pretty cool too.

Now the football dweeb I got a couple weeks ago? Not cool.... not cool at all  Maybe I can rub off the number and dye the pads a cool color to have some neat armor?

Or you can make some Blood Bowl players.

Also, I made a S@H order for Lego's Brick Friday thing, when they gave it to VIP members a week early. Picked up Medieval Market Village (since it appears to be going out of circulation soon), which qualified for the free shipping and little holiday set. However, it was $135, and if you made an order of $150, they'd take 10% off your order. Spending $15 to get $15 off? Yes please. So I got some free windows, arches and SNOT bricks from PaB. Pretty good haul, I'd say.

I also picked up some series 8 guys today. I managed to feel out the diver and conquistador, and randomly picked the alien queen because I just felt for big, round pieces.

That market village is pure awesome; you'll love it. One of my favorite sets of all time.

Yeah, I've already received it and the little holiday set. It's so good, and their attention to detail is unlike what I've ever seen in any other set. I'm glad they designed the buildings to work as both solid buildings and open-backed ones. The PaB hasn't arrived yet, since it takes longer to ship.

I have a Necro team using the Frankenstein and WW from the old series, skeleton heads for Wights, on bodies from the old euro football line. Fun.

Birthday money + stumbling on a cache of Series 7 = 11 more Galaxy Patrol. Total: 66, if I'm counting right. I truly expect to pick up no more. I also grabbed a random handful of series 8 that once again demonstrated to me that I should always feel up the bags- two businessmen, an Evil Robot, a Conquistador- all of which I already had- and a football player, which I couldn't care less about. Oh, and that polybagged Hobbit Mirkwood-guard set.

I've been remiss in not reporting picking up a couple big Pharaoh's Quest sets and the big Alien Conquest saucer at a discount store, the little Galaxy Squad jet thingy, the Ninjago 'mech, cult woman's cycle chase, the recycling/garbage truck, and the trailer with the dirt bikes. That's it, I think.

I have spent way, way too much on Lego recently.
