It's amazing how Americanized Europe has become.

My favourite actors (Jack Nicholson and Robert Deniro, above all others) are American (Mel Gibson only counts as half-American), so when it comes to movies, I guess so, but series are a whole different story. I don't seem to like any series that come out of America apart from Married With Children, but I do like a couple of British series. Of course, you could argue England is the most Americanized country in Europe.

Also, I can't believe I forgot Starship Troopers.

It seems to me most European movies (I know) are more realistic, often emotionally heavy. They rely less on cheap thrills and are therefore probably less popular, but I'll be the first to admit I like a no-brainer Steven Seagal movie from time to time, so I'm not complaining (even though I think superhero movies such as Batman, weird penis, Avengers are a waste of time and money).

Giving props to Sweden: When Darkness Falls is a pretty good movie. Lilya 4-ever is also a masterpiece even though it's not fun to watch.

I also enjoyed Looking For Eric.

I only just remembered, and it took me some time to find back this title because it's ages since I saw it, but ROSEWOOD is one of the best movies I've ever seen.

Then there's No Country For Old Men which was really good, Edge Of Darkness which kicked ass, and Man On Fire (had to look this one up, it's been ages since I saw it).

A looong time ago I used to watch cartoons of Batman, weird penis etc. on Action TV and back then I liked it, I might even have liked some of the live-action movies of that time, right now I just think all the superhero bullshit is very silly, boring, and lacking proper plots. It doesn't even fit the 'so bad it's good' category because it tries too hard and has a way too big budget for that.

On superhero movies: I too dislike the schlockiness of them. I also think the Dark Knight series is vastly overrated. The only superhero movies I really liked were Megamind, Dr. Horrible and Kick Ass. Misfits was really good too.

On giving props to Sweden: The Carolinean Guard was a pretty good guard. The Varangian Guard was also a masterpiece and tough to match.

I thought Edge Of Darkness was boring and confusing. However No Country For Old Men was awesome. You might also enjoy Fargo.

Edge was certainly confusing, but that was the idea. I liked the twist at the end and the slow build-up to that guy's change of heart that was present throughout the entire movie. I can also relate to the main character who was pretty much the only guy willing to stand by his principles in the entire movie.
