Digging Up the Past -- Turn 5: Finale

Post by Theblackdog » Fri Dec 14, 2012 10:26 pm

Bavarian P.O.W.s

Image

As Bob prepares to chainsaw Von Klaus into a fine red mist, Klaus turns towards his assailant.

Image
"Holy shit, that's the greatest mustache I've ever seen!"
"You think so?"
"I can't destroy something that awesome! I'm declaring an immediate ceasefire with Bavaria. Here, take this peace treaty back to the Kaiser."
"I shall return it to die Reichstag vith all haste, my vriend."

Image
And so, Captain Maxmillian Emil-Mannerheim Von Klaus rides off into the sunset, with a new ally for Bavaria and a lunar rover full of advanced Deadly SpaceMan teknology.

Bavarian Reinforcements

Image
The dino rider jumps into the just-vacated gunner's seat and opens fire, but fails to hit anything.

Peach Raiders
Image
With their leader down and the Artifax in enemy hands, the two rebels remove the pins from their concussion grenades and charge the enemy in a suicidal assault.

Image
Suicide attacks work better with real grenades than with stun grenades.

Rogue VoL
Image
The two remaining VoL troops move up, killing a grenadier and stealing his jetpack.

Image
The Acolyte uses the jetpack to fly away from the ruins. The shock trooper grabs the radar dish, which was right by his feet.

VoL Reinforcements
Image
A sniper emerges from concealment near the wreckage of the dropship and aims his weapon at Blackdog.

Image
"Hey, do I know that guy from somewherEEEAAAAARGH!"

Image
Blackdog's headless corpse stumbles into a control panel...

Image
... and flames belch from the smokestacks as the landship's steam reactor overloads.

Image
The rest of the VoL move up and kill a Peach and a T.L.A. flame trooper.

T.L.A.
Image
Having made peace with the Bavarians, Bob the Unbuilder looks around the field for another target. He settles on the sole remaining vehicle besides his own.
"Pilot, attack that landship head on!"
"Mister President, there's no way we can pull off a maneuver like that-"

Image
"FUCK YES WE CAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!"

Image
Image
Bob guns down an AA gunner and the last crewman on the bridge.

T.L.A. Reinforcements
Image
The sniper kills the VoL with the jetpack.

Image
The sole remaining grenadier kills a peach with a grenade.

Britannian Reinforcements
Image
With their ship immobilized and their bridge crew dead, there's not much the Conqueror's remaining crew can do. They manage to kill the VoL trooper holding the radar dish.

Kill count:
Bavarians:
Kills: 0/0
Deaths: 0/0
Victory Points: 1 (rocket launcher)

Peaches:
Kills: 0/0
Deaths: 0/2
Victory Points: 0

VoL
Kills: 1/3
Deaths: 2/0
Victory Points: 0

T.L.A.
Kills: 2/2
Deaths: 0/2
Victory Points: 1 (gyro pistol)

Britannians
Kills: 0/1
Deaths: 0/3
Victory Points: 0

This leaves the Bavarians and T.L.A. tied for victory. Congratulations to everyone who played, this was one of my best games yet due to the ideas you guys came up with.

Epilogue:
Somewhere in the Beige Deserts of Refuge
Image
Von Klaus and the sole surviving P.O.W. finish the work of converting the DSM rocket into an escape ship.
"Ven ve return, ve shall be heroes, Franz! Just think, I may get ze command of a ship, and you, you may get to carry a gun instead ov a shovel!"

Image
Franz climbs aboard as Von Klaus elevates the rocket and inputs the coordinates for Bavaria.

Image
"Next stop, die Fatherland!"

Onboard a VoL Fenrir-class stealth frigate, in the Refuge system
Image
"Mission accomplished, milord."
"You lie to me, Enigma. My latest sources say that Blackdog is still alive!"
"It can't be. I saw his head fly off when I hit him."
"And yet, he was seen walking around on the surface of refuge only a few minutes ago, with his head firmly attached to his shoulders. I suppose it's too much to ask that you completed the other part of the mission."
"I did. I waited to see which artifax the T.L.A. retrieved, and shot one of the sample canisters at it."
"Good. It wasn't cheap, getting one of those samples from the DSM Archives on Fico. If the T.L.A. has the sample, we haven't failed, at least."
"With all due respect, my lord, are you sure they will even find it? It seems easy to miss..."
"The T.L.A. is desperate, Enigma. They will scan their findings with every instrument, and look for any advantage they can get. I'm sure they'll see it eventually..."

T.L.A. Military Lab, beneath the surface of Refuge
Image
"Well? Is it any good?"
"Mr. President, the gyro pistol is a relatively common DSM artifakt, and strictly a short-range weapon. There is no way I can build this into something that can destroy the Britannian fleet. No way at all."
"Damn. I shouldn't have let that kraut get away with the missile launcher."
"However... there may be something of use here."
"Huh? What is it?"
"When the scanning crew looked at it... they discovered biological materials coating the gun's surface. DNA analysis is not yet complete... but it looks like you found the D.N.A. of a Deadly SpaceMan. Two-By-Two only knows how it's survived this long, but it's there. We may yet be able to win this war..."

Image
"Good to see you up and about again, Admiral."
"The same to you, Captain."
"It's a bloody shame we couldn't recover any of the artifax, though."
"True, but we have found something far greater. Our ships were able to track Bob's hover killdozer from orbit. About a thousand kilometers from here, it vanished from their scopes. The entrance to their underground hideout must be somewhere in that vicinity. Prepare your men, Captain. Today is the beginning of the end of the war."

And fuck yes for sequel.

This was a really good forum battle, Blackdog! So, is the TLA allied with the TA, or just Bavaria?

Huh, I guess freeing Klaus actually WAS part of a master plan in the end. Go figure. Still, I wish we could have gotten the rocket launcher. Still, Klaus's 'stache is pretty cool...

But... the Killdozer has been tracked? No... no, that can't be! Bob WILL crush the Britannians with his Killdozer, a guess at the T.L.A. lair will NOT aid them any! Muahahaha!

Oh, and thanks for finally letting me ram something with the Killdozer. I figure if it's full of concrete, it should pack a whallop. ;)

The one thing Bob couldn't bear to unbuild.
