In my family, you'd ether take a project like this to Mom; whose perfectionism would have her both over-engineer the thing until it could snipe a low orbital satellite and do everything herself while complaining that I'm making her do it; or Dad, who'd only put a token effort into it until Jeopardy came on.

I made two more batches of rocket fuel and I used a soup can to launch the rocket again. This time it flew around the back yard until it crashed into the snow, it was totally awesome. However, the engine burned the back outside of the fuselage, so after its second launch I have to retire Rocket 00. But that isn't a problem because now I've built Rocket 01 which has a conical engine and better fins and is longer, so hopefully we can launch it tonight for even more ossum.

Rocket 00 after its second launch. This launch was much more successful, it took off properly and flew in an oval around the back yard before crashing into a snow bank.




The soup can engine held the rocket fuel in quite nicely, but the heat from the burn ended up melting and burning a hole in the fuselage where the engine is.




The nozzle isn't really much of a nozzle, but it let the rocket fly. This was a successful test and flight. My next rocket design will hopefully be even more successful. The burn damage to the bottom of the fuselage here prompted me to make a new rocket, Rocket 01 which will hopefully fly later tonight.
