My Custom Lego Tables

Post by morganm » Fri Jan 25, 2013 3:05 pm

Here's a couple of tables we use.
Flickr set

The first one was a "train table" my dad made for my son. It was originally used for Thomas train stuff. Then when he out grew it we used it as a Lego table. Now he's outgrown that table all together because it's too low and our youngest is at the Thomas the train age so it's back to being a train table =)

The second one we built ourselves. Standard 5x2.5 foot folding table. We wanted something high enough adults and bigger kids could sit at. Just nailed on some sides =)

Same. I actually use an ancient Thomas the Train Engine playing board for staging some of my Brikwars with baseplates. Its large enough that it can hold six 48 x 48 baseplates (3 above and 3 below) with ease.

Well, my room is rather small, so having a bigger table probably wouldn't even help me  I'm currently sorting some of my stuff to use the space - storage, not battlefield, unfortunately - I have more effectively.

I put my desk and table together for a couple of battles to create a huge field but that's not really something I can still do.

Nice. Thanks for sharing your design. A table like that would make it easier to access the playing area from all sides..

another advantage of wood sides is that if you roll the dice on the table, then they can't fall off the table either.

Further, if you are into non lego-use. The inside of the table can be filled with sand, and the sand can be sculpted into hills, ditches, trenches, craters very easily. Not particularly suggested for brikwars, as you will have to clean out every piece before returning them into regular lego-building use; but it's an excellent solution for other kinds of war-gaming.
