Save the Kingdom of Ikros

Postby Bragallot » Thu Jan 31, 2013 5:34 pm

So I've just noticed that one of my favourite all time Lego websites the Kingdom of Ikros is down... :? If everyone could (politely) contact Anthony Sava and ask him to put it back up again, maybe it'll make a difference (I'm sure it's an error that the site is down and not a choice of his). If you don't know the Kingdom of Ikros, well, if you like my contributions, you'll like his website 1000 times better still. It's a gem of a Lego website that simply can't be left to go to waste like this... It inspired me (and still inspires me) to do Lego castle stuff, and I'm sure it will inspire a lot of kids too if it sticks around.

HERESY

We must save the Kingdom!

I got bored, so I looked it up, so I found this, which looks like it has all the news you'd need: http://ikros.blogspot.co.uk/

Not really, since the last entry there dates from 2006. He faced a similar error back then, but he fixed it, since the last time I read it certainly isn't 6 years ago.

I have never heard of the site. I hate to be a douche, but if the last post was in 2006 he probably decided to stop holding up the site because he thought nobody would notice, and he's selling the server racks now or something. Probably best you move on.

He's stopped making new content for a long time, which is why new updates were likely no longer required. It's disappeared only recently, I re-read the Immortal War (yes, ironically enough that's what his story was called) not too long ago.

If you don't know the site (because you don't sound too impressed) you could check out his Brickshelf, for example...

Halcyon Castle http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=3200
These are all story pictures, not all of them though: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=3753
Tower of Olyan http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=5114
Castle Arrandrall http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=21723
His characters http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=8603
My personal favourites, his brick-built dragons http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=8632
His airship http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=5898

Now imagine all that, in a story environment... I know he's probably no longer interested, seeing as he hasn't continued it, but for example Bones Medieval Lego (a 'similar' website, but much smaller and underdeveloped) as been around for ages without anything happening to it, so simply keeping the site up couldn't take that much effort.

What I think is that he simply didn't check the site for a long time, it crashed the same way it did before, and he hasn't noticed...

That is pretty cool, besides the dragons almost all the castle parts are made of Poops. I guess it's not very impressive to me because I'm a sci-fi guy.

Possible, but I bet you can see why someone who does like Lego Castle finds it impressive.

I suppose if he's having the same problem now, then whatever he said in 2006 may be true now eh?

ALSO: If we're posting lego castles, this is my favourite: http://www.flickr.com/photos/briancorre ... hotostream
