Went to Toys R Us today looking for Mirkwood Archer polybags. I walked out of the store happily with these:

Those are pretty sweet.

edit: dangit, I received my BL order, and the most expensive minifig is missing from it. Luckily the seller has a good reputation and will probably resolve this... I hope.

All I currently possess:

Image

3 x series 8 (Santa, Pirate, Cowgirl); 4 of the Pharaoh's Quest sets (Only missing Scorpion Pyramid) for 8 adventurer minifigs, plus the shitty bagged car & plane, plus the Mummy's Mask set; Indiana Jones, Henry Jones Snr, Mutt Williams, and Marion.

Image

Out of all the sets (and Mummy's Mask) so far I got 7 mummies, 3 flying mummies, a Scarab, a Cobra, and a Sphinx (Look at those shoulder joints - Mech material right there). You can already tell that these things are not going to stay built for long. I am already thinking of how to do a giant Egyptian Mech with Anubis Head - yeah the head is good enough to keep but needs to go on one BIG Mech.

On order I have: Pharaoh's Quest magnet set with adventurer, mummy, and Anubis guard; detective from series 5; German Soldier 2 from Raiders of the Lost Ark, 5xlever rifles from Brickarms via Minifigforlife and the Spy gun set from the same.

The details on EvilBay say that the magnet minifigs are glued on the stands but I have never found this to be the case with other sets I have had - Indy, Henry and Marion were from a magnet set and they were not glued on at all. I am taking a chance there but one I am willing to take for how cheap they were...

If they're cheap, it might be because they're glued. Since (because I don't assume you have baseplates) you'll be putting plates below your troops anyway, I suppose this shouldn't be such a problem even if they're glued though.

Adventurers vs. mummies is a fight I'm looking forward to. I actually put those guys together once against my castle doods, they're pretty awesome (propellor-kills! 8) )

It's the standard Lego fridge magnet set with the special brick with a magnet behind and a sticky up bit with two studs to hold the minifig on:

Very unlikely to be glued. unless the seller did it themselves.

The ealier magnets weren't glued, but they started gluing them in 2010 (?). Pharaoh's Quest came out in 2011, so they're definitely glued. The Indiana Jones ones aren't because they came out in 2008-2009. :rtfm:

Yeah, the new ones are glued. I have a friend who bought them anyway and attempted to boil the glue away or some such thing. Said he found the idea/process online. As I recall, it was mostly successful.

We shall see. Certain glues become real brittle when frozen, too. It purely depends on what type.

Failing that I have a Dremel.

Not bad at all (I know nothing about computer games, sorry, but I do know a good price when I see it).

Meanwhile the postie has been (yeah they can turn up any time before 7pm these days - whatever happened to Royal Mail service when first post was before 8am and second post before mid day?) and I got my BrickArms order from Minifigforlife with a free green M60-type HMG thrown in. I like freebies, even if they are that horrible green colour.

I got 5x Lever rifles, the Spy gun set, plus that free green thing.

Sweet.

If you want to make that anubis head into a mech, I strongly suggest making the head part of the main torso, building a cockpit to go inside, and attaching arms, missiles and legs directly to it. If you go much bigger, you're gonna run into some serious weight issues.

Yeah I was thinking that the Anubis Mech would need to be Mr No-Neck with the cockpit in the chest area. We shall see once I have enough parts to make it...

It's pretty awesome if you had one of those toy soliders Toy Story jeeps, you can just attach it and you have an armed jeep ready to go.

I modded the back of one of the Pharaoh's Quest cars to take it. :D

Seriously though, I think Minifigsforlife gives a free sample in a colour like that with bigger orders so you might order copies of them in more useful colours - good marketing ploy, as now I'd like a couple in a very dark grey.
