Titan Class multi-purpose SHIP: The Elodin

Post by Scratch » Wed Mar 06, 2013 2:41 pm

Due to recent uprisings on the Bas-Tyra system, the Doge has commissioned a fleet of high-capacity multi-purpose Carriers to be built with a stringent set of requirements. These requirements were, Ability to hold a full squadron, function as a fighter carrier, mobile command center, and have a badass mask on the front with a giant gun coming out of it. The Aerospace Division managed to meet those demands with the Titan Class. The first one ready for deployment was christened The Elodin in honor of the tactics division. It measures around 110 studs.

Here it is, posing with a fig wielding an OTC for size comparison.

Image
Although intended to be escorted by supplemental craft, The Elodin houses a powerful Glaive Beam extending from the mouth of the Titan Mask. It sometimes goes by the nickname of Shoop Boi for it's resemblance to the meme.

Image
A dual heavy laser cannon provides support against most heavy opposition.

Image
Image
For anti-fighter defense, it has a pair of Pegasus missile systems, capable of firing 2 MkII missiles off per tern apiece.

Image
Tri-Core engines allow this ship to power in and out of atmospheres for insertion and extraction.

Image
With the Titan Mask removed, you can see the Bridge and a larger portion of the Glaive Beam.

Image
The two gunners at their stations, there is also a pair of electrified batons holstered on the wall for defense.

Image
The Bridge is secured with a Moonbase Secure(tm) standard door.

Image
The Glaive Beam is actually completely removable, although it will not function when off the power grid, the gunner of this weapon also is a bit of a show off.

Image
With the beam removed, the Mask's mouth functions as the main entrance and exit, as shown by the SHIP's security officer.

Image
In just the space that the beam took, a full squadron of 15 infantry can fit, and that isn't even the main compartment...

Image
This is, in this slightly blurry photo, you can see the main deck, it can be fitted as a carrier, mobile command center, or as a troop transport than can hold a startling 50+ figs and two armored cars at one time.

Image
From here you can also see the ladder to access the bridge hallway.

Image
The doors to the mysterious engine room, although not measured with the main troop compartment, it can probably hold another 10 men.

Image
The crew of this fine ship, led by the illustrious Space Detective, with a security officer and 3 gunners.

I couldn't think of a cool one liner for this, so you guys fill in the blank

Bluefog has accidentally found a good one liner!

I know I should be commenting on the ship, but the Swat guy really caught my attention.

Excellent! We have not had a SHIp on the forums in a long time.
What set does that front mask come from?
Also, can you hold it up and swoosh it around? That middle compartment looks impressively spacious but also a bit flimsy.

Yes, I would also like to know how stable the construction is and how you keep such a large open body stable "in flight" as well.

I am looking at stability issues with my own SHIP (wip) as we speak...

Thanks! The front mask POOP came from a bionicle set that when they had fig-scale stuff. the underside of the troop bay is one of the sturdiest parts of the ship, it's half technic, half plate based. There is some weakness between the bridge and thebay, but it is inconsequential.

In regards to Swooshability,

I am now duly impressed.

The SHIP I am building is only 22" long, which is about half the size of your ship, and I have issues with stability simply because of the base parts I am using - 6 Viking ship parts (two bows/sterns and 4 middle sections).

Nice ship! I like the weapons and multipurpose ability of it. It would also be cool to see a picture of the cargo bay fully loaded up. For one liners, how about "Now invading a planet near you!"

Wow, now i am seriously impressed. In your swooshing pic i can now actually make out the technic beams.
My favourite detail on your ship are the Pegasus missile systems. They're very original.

Very nice, though I think that you could use the big space on the bridge for some cool living quarters. How is the frame of the SHIP like?
