This looks like more of the same. I'm feeling a lot of apathy here. Does anybody here really care? I am excited that consoles are going to start getting rendering done elsewhere, so it isn't as demanding on hardware.

The console war is over. We all know who won.

I hereby and henceforth give up on all future consoles unless they pull something not-bullshit out of their arses.

I have a playstation, gamecube and xbox 360 - I have no interest in any games released this year whatsoever, The last game I spent legal tender on was Xcom Enemy Unknown and after that nothing is of interest to me, I honestly get more enjoyment out of my clunking old shit of a P.C at the moment (GOG.com release Sid Meirs Alpha Centauri and Alien Crossfire for windows, say hello to my old friend mr 8 hour SMAC session) and the kids are re-living all of my childhood games I never parted with.

Call me back when all of my old retro games become even more retro/hipster so I can say I raised my kids on them and give the rest of the gaming world the finger.

Consoles haven't interested me much at all in the past year or so. I've been playing PC games for the most part, with the exception of the odd game bought from Gamestop for like 1-5 bucks.

I guess I did pick up Mega Man X for the SNES today for $30 though...

I think I spent a good 5 minutes trying to watch that through from the start, but hey, it was worth it. Now I don't own a console, so what's all the fuss about. Heck, why doesn't everyone just buy a decent computer instead... :-|

Because it's nice to buy a piece of gaming hardware that lets you play every game that comes out for it, unlike some PC games that require you to either buy a new computer or build your own. Sure, some people find building their own computers fun, but I'd rather just buy something that's ready to play any game I can get for it right out of the box.

Also because inviting a friend(s) over and playing games on one big screen can be a lot nicer than having four people huddled over their own screen. Consoles are allow multiplayer gaming to be a much more social experience (well, provided they allow local multiplayer, unlike many newer games that refuse to implement it). It's also nice to be able to play games from the couch, rather than planting your face in your monitor at a table. Yes, I'm sure this stuff can be set up on a PC, but it's kind of a shitty deal if a gaming platform doesn't allow for that kind of functionality without you having to screw around with it.

Yeah, great, PC's are technologically superior. That doesn't mean the gaming experience is any better. I'll compare it to a new clothes iron my mom got recently. The old one broke, so it had to be replaced. The new one has five different heat levels, and a slider to adjust how much steam jets out (when you hit the steam button). Maybe some people who are more meticulous with their clothes will like these features, because they like to have different heat levels for different fabrics. But for the average customer, none of this shit matters. If I need to iron something, I just plug it in, put the heat on the highest level (because I know how not to set my clothes on fire), and iron my clothes. I don't touch the steam slider, and I don't need the three automatic shutoff measures (because I know how to unplug an iron).

I'm not even going to TL;DR this one, just read it.

Wait, you can play games on it too? That sure wasn't the impression I got from that presentation. Now if what you want is a box to attach to your TV that lets you watch TV on your TV, on the other hand...

I like the PC because i find it easier to shoot dudes with my mouse than with dual analog controllers.

i think that the best answer would be to have the screen be in a pair of goggles, the pointer to be a headtracker mounted on the goggles, and a dual-analog controller in your hand. I think this would be the ideal solution, and to achieve it i would be OK with buying a box that makes it work or building one. I think i would prefer to build one as I don't like paying for stuff I don't need, like the Netflix part of Xbox live etc etc.
