The Great Gatsby

The first movie I've seen where the 3D effects weren't totally pointless. Also it was great.
Remus: Harry... I'm a werewolf.
Harry: Are you fucking serious?
Remus: Well yes, but I don't see how that applies here.

The Book Sucked, I don't want to see the movie.
Brik World: see what it is like in The Third World. Brik Wars get's taken to strange new places, where there is more to war than just the fighting. Ask me about it some time...

I never thought I'd live to see a thread about classic literature on the brikwars forums.

I actually enjoyed the book. The original movie with Robert Redford was okay, but I have yet to see this one.

It has been such a long time... i can hardly remember anything about the book. Wasn't it a tale about a filthy rich guy who got unhappy because he was filthy rich?

The book was so fucking stupid. The values of each character were fucked.

Daisy was a mindless soulless loser.

Gatsby was an idiot for loving someone who didn't actually love anything except for status and especially didn't actually love him back.

The narrator guy is fucking dumb for hanging out with these fools.

The husband guy was a colossal dick.

Like, none of the characters were people I would want to associate with. Except maybe Gatsby, but unrequited love is fucking stupid. Maybe be sad about it but your whole life for just that? Dumb. All he needed was some simple life counseling and maybe it all wouldn't have gone to shit for him.

But wasn't their personalities sort of the point of the story?

Especially the first one, and the fact that (at least to me) Gatsby never seemed happy period. I think Nick just chilled with these guys because he had no social life other than that other girl that hangs out with Daisy and Tom is a dick just 'cause.

While it has been some time since I read the book, the film was better at putting the characters in a symphatetic light, Daisy's conflicted feelings in particular. On the other hand, Gatsby was even more annoying so perhaps it evens out.

When I read it I wasn't old enough to appreciate the lack of emotional maturity exhibited by the characters in the book.

Aw man, that's a shame. Daisy's supposed to be an airheaded bitch, you're not SUPPOSED to sympathize with her.

At school nobody made us read it.
I probably saw the Redford movie but DragonBallz beat it out of my skull.
