There are no obvious traps on the sword. If you had a Detect Magic spell you could check it for enchantments without touching it, but I'll assume you go ahead and pick it up.

As you do, heat immediately spreads from your hand throughout the rest of your body. You no longer feel the ice-cold air of the stone chamber; it's like you are standing before a warm hearthfire.

The runes on the sword are similar to those on the map you took from Fyespon, and the general style of the sword's decorations reminds you of that mural in another room of this complex.

Here is a better look at the runes on the sword:

Gregor tries to move the table so it stands across the door, but he'll need help from someone stronger to get that huge piece of stone furniture moving.

With combined strength, Gregor and Adarim push the table against the doorway. As they do so, you hear a rattling sound from inside it, like bits of metal hitting each other.

Let's take a look inside.

Does the map indicate another magical item somewhere else then?

I give the sword to Gerald, even though there's very little difference in our damge output.

Gregor looks over the stone table, and finds that part of the underside is hollow. Behind a sliding stone panel is a compartment containing a pile of large, thin gold coins! The only decoration on the coins is a spiral on each side. There are 110 of them.

Gerald gets the warming sword.

Definitely take the coins. As far as I can tell, everything that Saucix suggests is pretty much the opposite of what should happen.

"This blade burns like the Sun. It will do well in my arm, paired with my shield. I suspect that these runes are script for a language, though I cannot fathom whom it may belong to. It seems too neat for goblin work."

So Gregor and Gerald want a share of the gold, what about Nisos and Adarim?

Also, do you descend into the pit in some particular clever way?

Of course Adarim wants a share of the gold. Life on the run is hard, you know.

You tie the rope to the table and throw the other end down into the darkness. You're not quite sure if it reaches the bottom. Who will be the first down?

I'm away at a party thingie for a few days, so I can only check on this sporadically now.
