Looked up OpenXcom, and I'll label it interesting, but I already sank too much time into DosBox to try something else.

Also: imgur may not be as bad as photobucket, but it still sucks balls.

The team continues to spread out, and the tank finds the UFO.

A few turns pass without incident, and Silva and Knife are preparing to breach this building.

I also found these houses down here. I will clear them before moving on to the UFO.

mgb clears one of the houses while Jules wonders why that wall was put there.

Silva and Knife finish clearing the building, and that leaves us with only the UFO to go.

By virtue of being there first, knolli gets to be the sacrifice.

Ha, look at this.! Among the newbees, I am the most persevering, strong and accurate (thowing doesn't count!), and I am in the top three in speed, bravery and strength. And you want to sacrifice such a fine soldier. Pah! If you have to use a sacrificial lamb, use Knife Billions or SilvaSilver. These wussies wet their pants at the sound of their own gun reloading.

I took a look at the graphs, and it said that there was a lot of UFO activity over North Africa. Thus, I have decided to send a fighter out to patrol the area,

But after 24 hours and two patrols, nothing is detected.

But on the bright side, mah lazorz r redy 2 fire!

Finally, after several days, a large UFO passes by.

…And escapes…

But undaunted, I order the fighter to the last known enemy position, and it reacquires the target over Saudi Arabia.

But then it jumps up to maximum speed and breaks for the upper atmosphere. Cowards, the lot of them!

The days drag on, but we do manage to complete our alien containment facility!

Thus, the skyranger’s loadout has been changed to this.

Days and days worth of boring patrols go by over Africa, until we finally find something…

It lands in Romania, and thus begins our first night mission.

Standard night mission gear. (Note that several of these idiots are too weak to carry all this, and so either forgo the flare or stun rod.)

Once again, we have put down right beside the UFO.

I decide to play it safe this turn, and simply pop a smoke grenade to block the alien’s broken night vision abilities.

Over the next two turns the squad disembarks without problems, and begins to scout the area.

After four all-too-quiet turns, Shoot Killington finds an alien right as he runs out of TUs.

A tank shot manages to miss horribly, but fortunately not cause friendly fire.

Sue Robinson takes four shots and hits with one, and somehow manages to not be hit by the reaction shot.

Doge Barke elects to simply grenade the alien.

Shoot: :byzero: Where’d he come from?! (It walked out of the UFO and turned left. Lucky Shoot.)

The grenade killed nothing, and the alien turn resulted in more shots fired than any print screen could hope to capture.

Ghost kills one alien, but four reaction shots are fired at him from elsewhere.

Doge leaves the UFO, and moves to help Ghost.

Sorry, I got caught up in the moment and missed Mann’s rampage that left one alien dead and one wounded.

Unfortunately, the lazy bastards in engineering only punched out a single laser rifle, which I have elected to give to the most accurate member of Bravo team.

This is going to be bad.

The tank rolls off to find not only an alien, but a mini UFO floating behind the creature.

One missile later.

Unfortunately, the tank is now partially blocking the ramp, so I elect to pop smoke and delay primary deployment until the next round.

Civilian running around on the upper floor of the building the tank just shot.

The tank finds another target, and knolli proves that lasers are indeed a viable battlefield weapon. The alien’s body falls under the husk of the mini UFO.

Civvie on the bottom floor, too. Lucky he wasn’t by the other wall last turn.

Well, crap. There’s another.

Image

The tank misses, and on the alien turn, it retreats. The tank follows, and finds this lovely scene.

Crash scouts out the other side of the landing zone, and finds yet another target.

Jules Barbicane breaks out the HE ammo, but fails to hit anything with it.

The troops then proceed to spam rifle fire at it, and even make a hit or two, with no visible effect whatsoever.

Well, crap.

At least we finally got one of theirs.

That done, I shift the troops to the other end of the LZ, and set up a firing line, hoping that the aliens march into it.

Crash Bandicoot dies, caught between two aliens.

The rest of the squad sets out to avenge him, but bad aim combined with this alien requiring a bullet and two lasers to kill hampers progress.

I don’t even want to count how many shots were made at this one.

Miles: Contact!

Miles: It’s one of the big ones!

knolli: Got you covered!

Silva: knolli!

Silva lasered the alien tank with such malice that it exploded, killing a civilian in the process.

Alien turn, and Miles is knocked out by alien fire from nowhere.

Seconds later, mgb is killed by another one of the damn things.

And Miles is obliterated by the grenade throw I screwed up.

Jules rounds the corner and finds an alien waiting.

One HE round later, the alien is no longer a problem.

Travel upwards, but not downwards, a fact that saved Silva’s life when she lasered the mini UFO.

Knife knocks out the alien that killed Miles.

We then corner the last alien in this building, where Silva manages to screw up grenade tossing.

Next turn, she simply shoots out the walls before pegging it with a laser. Mission complete.
