Lego run soon

Post by Insert_blank » Sat Jul 27, 2013 9:46 pm

I'm going to Hong Kong next week and I'm thinking about what I should buy when I go. I have a meager collection of bricks here on the mainland so I want to buy a set that has a good setting for a brickwar and hopefully a few minfigs to conduct war with.
I have the Hobbit Barrel Escape here already which is good for a bar room brawl, I guess. Does you guys have any recommendations? I was thinking Ninjago Temple of Light to get a mech and a temple to fight in.

It all depends on what you're going for-- Star Wars is almost always overpriced, LoTR sets give you plenty of bang for your buck, but to be honest I'd stick to non-licensed sets. They're pretty good for parts, and the fits included are generic e ought to make an army.

But you probably shouldn't take my advice too seriously--I've only bought one set since 2010.

Which, for the record, was the $10 Pretty Pretty Princess's Pretty Pink Castle

Well, if you're going for looking really good, or if it's inside a base, I was thinking of buying this- http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Batman-Arkha ... kout-10937

Then again, taking a second look...maybe not. I'd suggest just looking all over this site- http://shop.lego.com/en-US/ByTheme

If you're looking to stock up on bricks, this set is amazing. If you're okay with it, get two. If you're willing to spend even more money, I'd highly recommend this set. It has a butt ton of windows (great for modern buildings) as well as a lot of arches and some domes (good for ruins/castles), plus a bunch of tan bricks. And yes, I'd suggest getting two. I did and I have no complaints.

Yeah I'm not really sure what I wanna do. If they have some new castle sets those'd be good but I'd also want maybe some sci-fi stuff too? I don't wanna spend a lot of money either since HK prices are much higher than US prices.

Ended up buying 3 Kai's Fire Mech and the Temple of Light (for the badass gold ninja mech). I probably should have got some of the new space stuff too but I wasn't thinking straight.

There is an entire shopping mall called In's Point dedicated to toys. They had Lego, old Super Sentai and Kamen Rider stuff, Dragon Ball and DBZ and so much cool shit. I spent like 4 hours there...
