Stat Card for the "Clone of the first DSM"

Post by Kaplan » Fri Apr 25, 2014 9:55 am

I have created a stat card for a identical clone of the First Deadly Space Man with my limited computer abilities and Brikwars knowledge.
There are lot of specialties he have. Some of them are already defined by the rulebooks and topics in forum. Some of them are new.
We could define the specialties in this topic and improve the stats together.

Stat card looks good but what use is it? With these stats he is totally overpowered and could win battles against any army on his own.

I have found this on wiki: http://brikwars.com/wiki/index.php?title=Great_Builder

"And finally, the Dread Pirate 2x2 said "Let there be the Deadly SpaceMan. And it is he that shall rule over the Baseplates and the Sets and the great armies of Minifigs that I have made, and never shall there be a Stat Card of him." And the Dread Pirate 2x2 saw what He had made. And it was good.

Well there wasn't.
Yours is a clone so there still isn't one of the first guy, who might be different.

That's great because I do not want to create something that contradicts with the cannon.

Clearly you aren't in the spirit of the game. Everything is always cannon.

I don't think we even need to point out the fact it's broken, as quite obviously it's broken. Considering your average DSM is supposed to beat the average common or garden minifig, but not stack up to a hero, this pushes to boat out too far.

Swap the skill to a D16. It's an odd dice, most gamers don't even know it exists, it takes us past the super natural D12, but doesn't quite hit the D20, which is just silly. As it stands, 2d10+7 is stupid, unless you roll snake eyes, your action is going through, A D16 at least gives a chance of failure.

Move 17"? That is not only broken, but makes no sense, Hero's live through red shirting, leaving them behind and relying on a silly big armour pool will get him killed pretty quickly, as I guarantee you, your opponent will have more than enough guns to turn him into a gloriously OP bloodsmear. Tone it down to 7".

I've already talked armour, swap down to 2D8. If your smart, and keep him by troops to red-shirt off, he's not going anywhere. As for the specialities, strip it down to just the ego, with one feat. the rest of it is unnecessary.

Voila, I've turned your colossal waste of time into something that is quite possibly usable in a battle.

Isn't that the whole point? Normally I'd agree with you, but the OG DSM is supposedly a hero of heroes who are like heroes to champions who are like heroes to heroes.

The only majorly upsetting part of this is the skill - adding static values to a skill roll pretty much assures that any given action will be a success, and rolling two dice for skill leads to exponentially more critical hits (as i've seen in all playtests involving ninjas). 1d20 skill is fine.

So yes, DSM should be hilariously OP. Silly is exactly what you should be aiming for.

Not sure which way my vote falls on this one. I will say that Skill must always be one die, no modifiers, so 1d20 would be quasi-legal but 2d10 plus anything breaks the Skill system.

I kind of think it's funnier if the DSMs just have standard minifig stats, but since they burst into a universe with no competition at all, they dominated utterly and became crazy legends.

I want to build an army of blue DSM (a small one at least) but prices got very high after LEGO Movie including the character Benny the 80's spaceguy.
Black ones are even more expensive.

Have you seen this giant blue DSM? :D It is an official minifigure shaped LED light but all parts of the minifigure are movable.

I will try to collect more of them before the prices become not affordable.

Speaking of dice, I'm pretty sure the Kanon states brikthulu is the only thing that gets to roll a d20
