Brikspace Project Day 1
Cutlass Squadron accelerates towards the freighter. The defense frigate puts up its shield. Both ships are moving at 8" per turn.
The Republic ships also move towards the freighter; the Assault Frigate swings outside the Troopship to protect it from the pirate forces, and boosts to keep up. If it doesn't change course next turn, it will run into the asteroid in the corner of the photo. Fortunately, it won't need to make a very big course correction. The Assault Frigate is moving at 11" per turn, the Troopship at 8".
The freighter turns towards the coalition forces. The escort frigate accelerates a little to keep the freighter within its shield, but it only used half its move so it can turn 180 degrees to bring its main laser to bear on any enemies that attack it from behind. The freighter is moving at 3" per turn, the escort frigate at 4".
The Trick Shot boosts towards the enemy fleet, but is still out of range. It is moving at 11" per turn.
Shark Squadron accelerates towards the freighter. The Tiger Shark won't collide with me next turn (since I'll move out of its way before it moves) but it will collide with the asteroid the turn after that. Neither ship is in range. Both ships are moving at 8" per turn.
Both Jovian Defense Force frigates move up and fire their heavy missiles at the pirate boarding craft. They each have 3 missiles left, and they're both moving at 8" per turn.
One missile misses; the other one is deflected by the defense frigate's shield. Had both shots hit, they would have probably gotten through the shield and done some damage.
The Falcon moves to cover the upper field. It's moving at 9" per turn.
The Devastator-Class destroyer Hellfury boosts towards the enemy and launches two heavy missiles. It is moving at 9" per turn, and has 10 heavy missiles left.
It scores two direct hits on the JDF missile frigate, destroying it.
Overwatch of the field. Both teams will probably be able to land reinforcements next turn.
Now for the ground battle.
The stealthtrooper disappears.
Unfortunately, he was spotted by a Coalition security trooper, but his response shot missed.
In order to go into stealth again, the stealthtrooper will either have to move behind a wall or kill the security trooper (or have someone else kill the security trooper).
The other three pirates moved towards the bridge and attacked a security trooper, but thanks to bad accuracy rolls they didn't kill him.
The Security Trooper in the room across the hall from the pirates moved into one of the engineering rooms. He's 1" away from the R2 unit, the sealant canister, and the gravity controls.
The security trooper in the hall fired back at his assailants...
... and took cover in the hyperdrive room entrance.
The troops in the bridge took cover behind the door, weapons ready.
Overwatch.

It's the first turn. Next turn both sides will be within laser range and things will start to get interesting.
The JDF lost one ship, true, but the more powerful of the two ships is still intact. And the pirates haven't made much progress in securing the freighter.
One minor but important thing I forgot: Defense Field ships can't fire while their shields are up.
Oh, and energy weapons do get response actions if they don't fire for a turn.
