I'm always thinking of more good forum rules and then forgetting to write them down. So here's a thread. Feel free to add suggestions.

Rule 6: Numbered lists can start on 6 if they want to.
This makes it look like it's part of a bigger list, which is useful if you want people to think you've done more work than you actually have.

Rule 7: If a thread goes off topic, it's not the fault of the poster, it's the fault of the topic for not being interesting enough.
Current and former members of the Dimmy faction will always come along and disrupt your civilized and carefully-typed conversations; that's their role. If your topic has any life left in it, the thread will get back around to it eventually. If you really love something, sometimes you have to let it go. Or let a bunch Dimmies brutally violate and mutilate it, or something.

Rule 8: Arguing in internet forums makes you look stupid.
Everyone knows this, and everyone does it anyway. If two jerks waste a page arguing about which one is the bigger jerk, it doesn't matter who "wins," everyone else just knows they're both a pair of jerks.
Rule 8(a): Being a jerk is funny sometimes.
Despite rule #8, go ahead and argue sometimes, because it's funny. Just don't think you'll get away with acting all superior afterwards, because we all know you're a jerk.

Oh yeah, also:

Rule 9: Mega Bloks have their uses.
And so do Jar-Jars, and peachies, and Jack Stone, and even those Knights Kingdom characters. Maybe it's just for target practice, maybe it's to chop them up for parts, maybe it's so you can stage battles about genocidal extermination, but if you can't think of something funny to do with crappy source material, it's your own fault for not being creative enough.

There's an old image macro about rule 8. it shows some kid with downs or something running on a track, captioned with "arguing on the internet is like running in the Special Olympics: even if you win, you're still retarded."

I must say, Rule 9 is gold.
If you can't think of something funny to do with crappy source material, it's your own fault for not being creative enough.

Brilliant!

Did I just see IV using capital letters?

I must second Timedude, Rule 9 is just great. But those others are excellent, too.

Often, literally, a pillow fight but may include similar situations like volleyball, particularly when wardrobe is skimpy and the action is bouncy.

At first glance I thought this read "All rules written by Rayhawk can be ignored." And I thought, that doesn't sound too bad. But as written it's got its own kind of Epimenidean charm.

Rule 12: Ignore Rule 12.

Rule 13: Acknoledge Rule 12 and ignore Rule 13.

Yeah, maybe I should just shut up. But hey, who doesn't like making lists?
