This Sunday the Archipelago Gaming Guild (name pending approval) will have its inaugural BrikWars battle. Here is a snapshot of the leaders of each army, as sort of a teaser:

From left to right: Death In Charge of BrikWars Combat, of the Undead Horde; General Qui-Gon, of the Imperial Armed Forces; Dr. Henry "Indiana" Jones, Jr., head of Archaeologists, Inc.; Cyborg Bob (short for Built On Budget), of the Robot Insurrection; Jonathan Thor, head of Thortek Industries' Giant Robot Echelon (TIGRE); Wizard Jim, of the League of Enigmatic Gentlemen; and King Artie, leader of the Royal Knighthood.

Nice, I'm looking forward to it. It's neat to see a flag for each faction

They're all so very... set based. Not that that's completely bad, but it just makes everything look so familiar and so predictable.

But don't mind me. I'm too picky for my own good. One of these days I'm going to get punched. I'm still surprised it hasn't happened yet.

Well, yes, but only most of the time. Unless they named the hero "Indiana Jones" just to name him that and use the minifig that looks like Indiana Jones, I don't think they'll end up all that unpredictable.

Keep in mind, those are just the heroes. While most of my Lego collection consists of recent sets, there's going to be plenty of mixing it up in the actual campaign. I'm looking forward to it (I'll be teaching everyone to play, so I myself won't be playing; should make it easier to get pics and commentary that way).

*returns the high-five* It's easy when your game group has just finished the second story arc in an ongoing RPG campaign and is looking for something a little different for the next game session. ^_^

It's a homebuilt universe using the GURPS game engine, I believe.

An interesting concept, to be sure. Never tried GURPS, I've heard mixed reviews of it. I've heard it's a relatively easy system. D6, I believe?

3d6 for most skill rolls, yes, and lower numbers are better; a roll of 3 is a critical success.

Clearly not compatible with BrikWars, where rolling all 1s is only good for mayhem and destruction-- Oh. Never mind.

...But GURPS is supposed to be simpler than D&D... and besides, all you need for D&D is someone who knows how to play to be DM. Play in the game, and you pick up all the rules in no time. I've been playing since I was 5, and I still don't know most of the rules, so you're never gonna get 'em all.
