Wait a minute... A projectile cannon on a hover tank? If the main gun is really a projectile cannon, the driver is going to get a really nasty surprise the first time he tries to fire it off to one side.

It hangs low to the ground and has a wide base, and with a gun that small I don't think it should be a problem.

The tank still may slide to the side by at least a few feet. Or yards. Tank guns have a lot of recoil. FUN RULE: Whenever a hover vehicle fires a projectile gun, it is pushed in the opposite direction by a number of inches equal to the gun's Size. It's probably not going to make any difference in a battle, but it would be fun to see the results of this in a race-type scenario.

Or when infantry units move behind the tank and use it as cover :)

Perhaps if it were a large Recoilless rifle or Gyrojet or a Electrothermal Projectile weapon or a Magnetic Railgun or a Gauss Cannon or a...

Couldn't it just compensate with some extra thrusters?

Not Broken In The First Place. If it was equal to the gun's damage, then the vehicle would go flying across the map every time it fired. I'm referring to the weapon's Size rating (1", 2", 3", etc.) which all of its other stats are based on.

It wouldn't make sense that every time the gun fired the tank would move a different distance. The same distance with every shot that is the same amount of force makes more sense.

It would still be the brikwarsiest way to do that. It would be freaking awesome for the recoil from that gun to knock a tank all the way across the battlefield.
