B: For space-ships, the rules say that you can mount twice what your inches are in weapons on the ship, not just 1 time like normal fliers.

iknow

the hodgepodge stands at 47" long thats 94" inches of weapons

it has 4 class VII guns 28
1 class VIII launcher 8
4 class III twin guns 24
1 quad class II 8
2 twin class II's 8
then 4 class IV missiles 16

92" of weapons just 2" from maximum total. it also carries up 12 of my standard fighters. for another 120" of weaponry

Yea RoC77 didn't stand a chance. My fleet is looking pretty miserable compared to that as well, though my main ship is probably stronger than RoC's. I just need a bunch of smaller support vessels. Though I would really like to retrofit the Corvette and upgrade it to a Light Destroyer.

well since you have that long gallery running most of your ship if you could change that a little, to hold some sort of folding fighter clipped to the hull that would look awesome, thinking something like B5. or maybe aflight deck in the lower command section. some things i can't tall though because i don't know how you ship interweaves. thats the one thing about the HODGEPODGE the wall by in large are made from 1x2 bricks as such its imperative for it to be interwoven or it would pull itself apart under its own weight

the hardest thing would be your main weapons i don't know its class, for your beqam gun. and some of the secondary turrets need to be upgraded, the one really nice thing is that due to you design you can sling turrets over and under the ship

I haven't made stats for the main cannon or the ion cannons yet, but the main cannon takes up 32 studs or 10" of hull space on the inside of the ship, so I guess I could start with that.

well if you don't need that corridor and tyou can extend the cannon do so. your vessel already looks like its basically built around that weapon.

Yeah, if the Hodgepodge was alone I think my fleet would've been able to take it down(but not board it).

Great battle, who doesn't love giant starship carnage?

IMO Brikwars rules need an optional rule to double weapon ranges or something, My group's measuring system compensates for it a bit, but for battles of this magnitude, my thoughts are that ranges should be souped-up a bit.

basically for this game any 'starship capital vessel'
did not have to follow the limits for weapon length which by 2005 rules is a class V consequently the largest weapon on the field was a massive size XXI gun that had a range of just over 10 feet.

I think it's important to limit the weapons and the weapon firepower carried.
Yeah RoC, what baffles me is that you don't cover your ships in weaponry. They have like big flat open areas all over them yet only puny gun turrets. Even my Corvette has more firepower than that mothership thing you built.

@Strana & Fighter Defenses
Yeah the only solutions you have for anti-fighter defense on mother ships are either pay to make the weapons custom and have greater range, or just put them all over the ship. My Corvette which is tailored for anti-capitol ship duty, has 13 weapon emplacements, but 9 of them are meant for use against enemy fighters, and aren't strong enough to do much damage against big ships. (Though the main turret and the missiles could probably do surface damage or destroy exterior components.) The point is you gotta put them on all sides of your ship to protect against attacks from all angles.

by using the same weapons power rules as flyer's (big weapons mean big heat)
and setting speed limits (big ships mean big inertia)

based on size, means the ship/s have to be built to serve a tactical purpose.
Forcing the fleet to be based on a tactical plan.

most modern naval fleets work in this very way.

Having done a battle in this scale, I can agree level 1 and 2 weapons lack range.
The next time I do a battle on this scale all weapons ranges will be doubled with
the second half having a -1 one to hit and -1 to damage.

You should have tried this over multiple levels. Then it gets interesting 8)
stop killing me! ;-)

Wow! I don't care if this is threadcomancy that would be about the most epic Brik Wars battle I've ever seen!
Amazing, absolutely amazing!

I'd already seen some seriously nice large space ships on the forum, but I didn't realise that anyone actually took them out and fought battles with them.
