Update Group

Postby Olothontor » Sun Sep 06, 2009 3:34 pm

(for lack of a better title).

Anyone else notice that Rayhawk is increasingly not here, and that the BrikWars official website hasn't been updated in freaking forever?

I propose that Rayhawk assigns a moderator who is online more frequently to take his place, and to take charge of updates for both the website and the forums. This person would still, of course, be under the almighty Rayhawk's jurisdiction.

This was brought up a few months ago. I think we came to the conclusion that it shouldn't be done for whatever reason.

Yeah, that's me. I'm on every day.

Every now and then I ask if someone wants to help with updating the website, but no one ever steps forward. It's a thankless job.

I would be willing to assist you, if you need it. It seems Rayhawk is a busy man, and in that respect has relieved himself of certain duties that need attending to.

P.S: posting from my Wii!

Haha. Indeed we do, but that's good. It means we all know one another on good terms. Small, well-knitted groups of gamers is always a good thing (well, perhaps not always).

Perhaps it should instead be an update group, with individual tasks spread out across the people within it.

Unfortunately, I'm fairly certain Rayhawk is the only person who can create groups and such, so we'll have to be... 'un-official' for the time being, if this ever takes off.

I had a thread for people to suggest updates for the newsfeed, I'm too lazy to look it up now. It didn't get used much. But if you've got ideas, feel free to share.
Newsfeed entries are simple:
    title
    block of text
    supporting links
    image at around 150x112 pixels
    image caption
Going through and updating the brick wargames and fan pages is more work, since the links are always going up and down and I haven't been cataloging new stuff in years. But if anyone wants to help with that, let me know.

Once again, I offer my assistance. In particular, I take interest in the Other Brik Wargames section, as several BrikSpace rulesets have popped up. I notice that not even TheBlackDog's original BrikSpace made it up there. I aim to fix that.

Unfortunately, to avoid confusion, one of us shall have to change then name of our ruleset. Otherwise there will end up being three different games up there, all listed under the same general title.

Let me know what you need from me, and I will find the time to oblige.

I was curious to check this out, so I looked at the stats. Things have slowed down since school started for a lot of people (and since I gave tahthing the axe), but:

In the past day: 24 posters, 96 posts.
In the past two days: 33 posters, 224 posts.

We have more active users than that, since I can think of a bunch of semi-active folks (blitzen, pesgores, piltogg, benny, booty bothered, rayhawk) who didn't show up during those 48 hours, but I'm pretty happy with this size. Once a forum gets up past a hundred active posters I have a tough time keeping track, so I'm comfortable with where we're at.

Yo, I'll do it. I've got nothing better to do. Anything to help.
