Hold McGuffin Bridge

Post by chrisbare » Sun Jan 17, 2010 1:50 pm

This is a report of my first BrikWars battle. We used a modified version of the QuickWars where each minifig's armor and weapon determined the die type to roll. This worked out really well, fast to play, but enough variation to make it interesting. My write up of the rules are here:
http://bareflix.com/brikwars/cbc.html

We had 3 players, two of which started early and did most of the building. The scenario had a castle at each end and a bridge in the middle. The third player had to defend the bridge from both sides while the attackers goal was to steal the treasure chest from the center of the bridge. We also added a building side quest that added a lot of fun. The parts for two small hand carts where scattered on each side of the bridge. If you collected them and built the cart, a single minifig could use it to move the treasure, otherwise you would need to minifigs to move it.

<img src="http://bareflix.com/gallery2/main.php?g ... alNumber=2">
The battle rages on with many troops from both sides falling. The Red Pharaoh is lost just as his lone remaining trooper tows the wagon he built toward the treasure chest. Lars and Sven are dead, leaving the chest apparently unguarded, but wait! Bud and Toby, who spent most of the battle hiding in the reeds have grabbed the biggest weapons they can find and come swooping down on the bedraggled attackers.

<img src="http://bareflix.com/gallery2/main.php?g ... alNumber=2">
The day is saved! Bud and Toby return the chest to the middle of the bridge and wonder what to do next since everyone else is dead. Sadly they eventually kill each other in a duel as they cannot agree on who gets which of the abandoned castles. Such is the way of the minifig.

I think your battlefield's great, it really inspired me. When I saw it I was expecting far more troops though and got a bit dissapointed, also because the castles didn't come into play. However your fight was good enough, my high expectations were the problem rather than anything else :wink:

Very cool battlefield. I need a ton more grey bricks so I can do stuff like this...

The battle was kinda undermanned, but the coolness of it made up for that. Is it just me or are bridge battles more popular lately?

Excellent battlefield, I'm planning to focus on scenery, and this is quite inspiring. Also nice battle.

Very nice, the battlefields immense, love the river and bridge. The Forrest Men always remind me of Robin Hood Men in Tights. Iunno! :D

We're men / We're men in tights / We roam around the forest looking for fights!

Tbh that movie wasn't half as funny as I wanted it to be though.

True but the idea was sound enough I guess.

@chrisbare: With this quality of scenery when are you posting up a forum battle so we can wreck it?

DIBS! :lol:

@ Warhead yeah it was pretty enjoyable still, but my expectations usually get the better of me despite the fact I'm the kind of person for who the glass is always half empty :?

This is the best n00b battle I've ever seen. Photography isn't perfect but great for first time, battlefield is great, armies are coherent, fantastic.
