I wanted to test weapons and units stats (I'm using D6-8-10-12-20) so I made this small setup where a group of A'kurrean try to free allies that are prisoner in a small facility.

Three mercenaries are detained at the back of the facility. To get there, attackers must pass through a checkpoint. The Equinox Order control 10 offensives units (1 Hero, 1 medic, 3 squad leaders and 5 infantry). They get 3 more units but they are spread. There is a weapon rack and a crate of explosives in the checkpoint.

A small group of A'kurreans are approaching.

The Marines open fire as soon as they get in range...

First kill!
The Squad Leader tried to return fire while calling backup. She misses.

One of the infantry get proper LOS and shoot a commando... only to hit his gun. The commando keep the knife and sprint toward the base.

Headshot!

All the infantry moved to the entrance and opened fire. They killed a commando. You can see that the first commando made it to the wall.

Lucky dice roll. Three out of four infantry fall!
Backup responded and will be there soon.

The last infantry tried to fall back and take cover but did not make it.

While the A'kurreans entered the base, a squad leader get to the explosive crate and take a grenade. He threw it once the first marines got close enough, killing 2 marines.
Backup should be there soon.

A firefight start which end up killing one unit on each side. The hero finally decide to join and open the door.

Backup enter the area!

The escort was about to land when the hero killed the last squad leader. The checkpoint was now secure.

Remaining A'kurrean units tried to get through the door but Equinox hero succeeded to close it before they make it. They took cover because the Fearless was now deploying units. One of the reinforcement was a tactical heavy trooper that killed the commando after the commando failed to cut his throat.

As reinforcements approach, the A'kurrean hero get to the explosive crate and take the heavy explosive...

The explosion broke the door but did not kill any enemy.

The Equinox heavy trooper shoot a tranquilizing dart at the first marine and then head for the A'kurrean hero. They exchange fire and are both hit! The hero manage to survive by using his healing injector.

The infantry shoot with their pulse cannon and stunned the hero.

Defenders are victorious with 3 units remaining!

Comments...

1-The fight turned out to be pretty balanced. Backup had a huge impact but with explosives, the comm sat could have been destroyed first preventing the defenders to call for backup. See 5
2-A squad leader was forgotten in the escort. good job...
3-The checkpoint have a bottleneck shape. A rocket launcher or some explosives could have made the entrance larger. See 5
4-The Equinox hero was a coward
5-Need more explosives. See 6
6-A rocket launcher in the gun rack would have made it a lot more attractive

Man, that looked well done. How did you feel it went? Were there some stats you didn't get to use or that you felt could have worked better? I tried to strip as much out of the stats I use for ease of play without losing the interesting stuff. It certainly looked a cool game.

Love the effects you used here. The A'Kurrean hero was awesome as well. Don't think I've seen him before...
The battle itself looked really fun. I think some of us, with our ability to hold epic open-field battles with hordes of troops and giant vehicles, have a tendency to forget how fun it is to just pit a few minifigs against each other in a building full of powerups and deathtraps. You certainly have the ability to hold the former type of battle, if the pictures of the Equinox are any indication, but you still did this instead.

Overall, I liked it. Most of the stats look fair but I feel like I have tried only a few things. It was pretty even until backup arrived (dice decided when they were to get there) and they arrived just before the attackers access the detention room. If backup arrived 1 or 2 turns later, A'kurreans could have make it to the cells then have a more even fight with the whole escort crew. It would have been nice but... the dices have spoken Twisted Evil . The battle gave me a good idea of the type of setup I need to make for the next one. I'll aim for a more elaborate, 64x128 terrain (that's the bigger I can make and keep for more than 1 day) with more units and more explosives!

A'kurreans heroes are my favorites Very Happy .

(same 2 units with armor)

Cool units, good battlefield, decent photography(I try to opt for lots of natural or artificial light over over flash but still ok.

There is hope for you.

I have to say that I was at first a bit skeptic about the size of the map, but as I went on I was amazed. It was an epic battle. Beautiful building interior, and the reinforcements ship was amazing. 5 out of 5! Very Happy
