Desperate Alliances Round 4

Post by Bragallot » Sat Feb 27, 2010 7:58 am

Knights of Kerrat

Image

The Purple Mage tried his hand at a spell that would allow his allies to cleanse their brutal adversaries with fire.

Image

He didn't manage to affect the whole army though, just the squad of impalers were blessed with fiery missiles.

"VOLLEY!"

Image

The spearmen at the far end of the river burst into magic flames that didn't go out as they touched the water as they were hit.

Image

The crossbowman and remaining berserker laughed heartily when the flag carrier's shots failed to kill them.

Image

The sergeant was cut apart by the swordsmen's counters as he failed to kill any of them.

Image

The dismounted lanciers drove their pikes into the swordmaster's throats in a splash of blood.

Image

The lieutenant failed to kill the crossbowman, his attack nothing more than a pinprick for the water demon.

Image

Garth: "I have no quarrel with you or your people. I'd be damned if I even knew who you were. Perhaps it is time to stop this pointless fight?"

Fishstache: "Hah! I think not! You and your warriors are just the challenge we've been waiting for!"

Garth: "Then you shall die enjoying it."

Garth assaulted Fishstache. It's duel time!

Image

He shoves...

Image

And strikes Fishstache, who failed to parry, across the face! One hit down.

Bull Tribes

Image

The order to press the left flank was given, so the crossbowmen all turned and aimed their weapons there.

Image

The remaining Starcape trooper took so much damage he was flung off of the tower.

Image

Despite their tough armour two halberdiers were also cut down by the volley.

Image

They were then swarmed from all sides by the charging Bulls. Even a heavy and the chieftain joined the fray. Luckily the Furbeasts stood by them.

Image

On the other side the phalanx rotated and attacked Van and the rangers. Steel clashed against steel in an uneven fight.

Image

The Bulls were on the move.

Image

Disaster for the Dwellers: their left flank gave in the to phalanx's assault. All were destroyed, even Van fell in a duel with the phalanx captain.

Image

The Bulls had more mayhem to unleash: the icons were channeling their ritual magic to unleash their terror on something way in the distance... however they chose sublety over force.

Image

Hey! What's this guy planning?!

Image

By Innos! He's possessed!

Image

After cutting off the head off from his mate the gunner came to senses as if awakening from a nightmare.

"What did I do?!"

What have you done? Why, you've cut off your mates head. Now fire it from the canon.

Water demons

Image

The lieutenant once again failed to kill the crossbowman and he succesfully retreated from CC.

Image

After having retreated the remaining ranged forces opened fire on the only remaining horse.

Image

Which was the lieutenant's, but the lucky bastard's mount held on.

Image

With their men falling around them Blackpants and the Technoviking realised they'd have to make the difference on this day. They gladly signed up for this role and rushed over the horses, into the fray. The heavy axeman joined in to kill the grounded lanciers.

Image

They slew one, and the last lancier prepared a desperate defence.

Image

The swordsmen ignored the crossbowmen and rushed to reunite with their commanders, but had to clear the cleaver's banner carrier out of the way first.

Image

So they did. Was the Purple Mage their next snack?

Image

No, they continued instead and managed to reunite with their commanders.

Image

The berserker rushed upon the last horse.

Image

His charge gave him the edge he needed to kill it with one stroke. The lieutenant awaited the attack with an eager grin on his face.

Image

Apparently not too worried his dad could ever lose the duel, Fat Olaf attempted to cast a spell instead.

Image

He neither failed nor succeeded entirely, and accidentally raised the dead axemen from the ground. The spell had transformed him into a raging, bloodthirsty pumpkin that would attack uncontrollably until it was stopped.

Image

The raging pumpkin's charge wasn't too inspired though, and it didn't reach any targets yet.

Image

Fishstache strangely enough didn't attack Garth. He fixed his control over water on the river, where the bulls were at.

Image

Whatever he had been trying failed, and as a consequence Garth attacked him again. However the knight's honour seemed to prevent him from attacking too effectively, and his weak jab was easily parried away by Fishstache.

Garth: "You people are so reckless! Have you no fear of death?"

Fishstache: "No! For this is what we live for, and all of us shall arise from the deep again!"

Image

Well, most of us, at least...

Undead Vanguard

Image

The shambling skeletons attacked the axemen on the right flank, who had saved their actions. When the dust cleared three skeletons, including the greater skeleton, had been destroyed, as well as the reanimated axeman chieftain, who had fallen to the reactions before he could do anything. However two Bulls had also fallen to the deadly fireswords their enemies wielded.

Image

Crossbowskeletons tried to shoot down more enemies, but were still too confused to hit anything.

Image

Only one zombie phalanx managed to make contact with the Giant, but it was a succesful hit. The Giant's natural toughness kept him alive, but he was now wounded.

Image

The Bitchy Witches quit their fighting when they noticed they had no nails to scratch each other with or hair to pull out. Despite the better understanding between the both of them the spells they fired passed harmlessly under the tower, missing the Bull General and phalanx behind it. The necromancess finally failed to raise a fallen unit from the dead.

Dwellers

Image

Withdrawing from multiple opponents is a dangerous business, as the Giant got to feel. A shame, because he was gonna try something pretty cool.

Image

The remaining ranged forces opened fire on the nearest target: the enemy phalanx. Surprisingly, they failed to kill anything.

Miranda: "Fall back! We'll stop them at the road!"

Image

Some made it.

Image

Others didn't.

Imperials

Image

Realizing the regular forces had begun to fare rather badly, Sharlena and the Purple Mage agreed to cast a difficult, more offensive spell.

Image

Though they had been aiming for a more devastating effect, the spell wasn't a complete failure either, and screams rang through the air as two Bulls were cooked alive in a part of the river that suddenly heated up. A heavy also took a hit as the boiling water seeped through his armour, but survived despite being in great pain.

Image

The Elite swordsmen, not recognizing the water demons as a threat anymore, moved around the corner, perhaps they would be in time to rescue their halberdier friends?

Image

They were still being pressed hard.

Image

Cales: "FIGHT! Don't let them through!"

Though his voice didn't carry through to all of his troops at least the halberdiers seemed inspired to hold on.

Image

The cannons opened fire on the water demons, but missed. (horrible effects I know, couldn't seem to find the pieces I otherwise use)

So, since the giants dead, can we find out what he was going to do?

He was gonna scale the tower and use it to jump over your phalanxes to get behind the skeletons, possibly crushing one on the process, and then whacking them from behind. But as said, withdrawing is a mean business, especially when you're going through some tough luck, like the Dwellers did this round.

I want the undeads to win but I like the Water Demons too. Even though they are getting a hard time.

Yeah, I was just looking for another way to urge people to send orders. It's the one and only thing I hate about running a forum battle. I usually don't say it so literally either.
