Desperate Alliances Round 5

Post by Bragallot » Wed Mar 17, 2010 2:35 pm

Image

Bragallot seemed pretty happy, he was ready to give his battle his best shot.

Image

Grandmother dialed 112, having caught wind of Warhead's evil schemes. Shows how much my family trusts me, though with Warhead it's probably best not to take any chances and I can't really blame them when I look at the amount of time I bitch to them saying how busy I am :)

Image

The cults remained safely outside. Nothing could stop the battle now! Well, except for school, but I don't want to get everyone down with this post.

This will be a pretty intensive round, so I decided to hook you up with some good background music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cByP999tEXU

And before someone throws a 'get on with it!' at me, on with the show:

Water Demons

Image

Having one opponent to kill didn't quench Fishstache's thirst. His attention was carried away from the fight once more.

Image

He failed though, and a gush of water knocked over some of his men, though without lethal result. What's up with this guy's heroic feats?

Image

Fat Olaf snuck up on Garth from behind. His sneaky ways were exactly the reason his father didn't like him too much and dreaded the thought Olaf would ever have to take his place as warchief of the Water Demons.

Image

Fishstache could take care of himself well enough. Sadly, the thickness of these guys' armour was a bit inconvenient.

Fishstache: "Men ought to cut flesh, not steel!"

Image

Or saddles, for that matter.

Image

Garth's counter made contact with his enemy's helmet, but failed to do anything more.

Image

The crossbowmen were swarmed by the swordsmen.

Image

The berserker and the lancier didn't succeed in killing each other.

Image

The last of his men hid behind his shield, knowing he stood little chance against the Water Demons' finest.

Image

He died a honourable death, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't have wished it otherwise.

Image

The heavy axemen decided it was about time to do the mage in.

Image

But then, of course, you gotta hit him.

Image

The crossbowmen fired, but without effect.

Image

This pic gives the impression they accidentally shot their mate, but it was an even worse death: he was pummeled to death by counter-attack crossbows after he and his mates failed to kill any of them :?

Yeah I probably shouldn't even be posting pictures of myself and my family but humour breaks law and ideas in my head can only get out permanently through acting them out :) (it gets me into trouble sometimes)

Knights of Kerrat

Image

These guys got up again, angry to have missed a part of the battle.

Image

The fight between the berserker and the lancier lieutenant continued unresolved.

Image

Garth broke Fishstache's sword with a mighty stroke.

Image

He then stabbed his opponent, but again the chivalrous knight failed to make a lethal attack against his now unarmed opponent. I didn't picture the crossbowmen so I suppose they did nothing mentionable.

Image

The heavy axeman was cut down by a volley prior to being shoved away by the mage's shield.

Image

Who then began to accumulate his power, not yet releasing it...

Undead Vanguard

Image

Nothing grand. They moved up a little, creeping forward so to speak because of the slow zombie phalanx, and didn't seem interested in killing any of the people directly around them anymore. The necromancess failed to raise one of the dead warriors, making questions rise as to how she had gained that title.

Image

The skeletons on the other side of the river moved out of combat, some combatants dying as the weapons clashed for the final time.

Dwellers

Image

Miranda spurred her riders on to dish out some heavy punishment on their next attack run.

Image

Spears were handed out so they wouldn't be completely helpless in melee should it occur.

Image

What few Dwellers were left launched their ranged assaults upon the shrinking mass of Bull soldiers.

Image

Killing some.

Image

I think about two phalanx were shot or thrown to death by spears.

Err no aoffan controls them now. I have no idea how it happened but I forgot a few pics, hang in there.

Edit: done, though I still think I lost 1 (unimportant) pic somewhere.

Bull Tribes

Image

The Bull leaders worked together to reorganise their men, reforming the battle line. The icon's spiritual spell-weaving helped them to do this quickly.

Image

The leader and the Bullbeast moved to the front: playtime was over.

Image

The weapons clashed on the left flank as the Chieftain's band began their retreat.

Image

In the fighting, two more imperial halberdiers were killed.

Image

The flank was then covered by the chieftain and his remaining men. They prepared for the Imperial counterattack.

Image

The crossbowmen worked together to eliminate the undead threat on their right flank. Though more resistant to arrows than 'fleshies' in my rulebook, the skeletons couldn't sustain the full damage of the volley either.

Image

The leader picked a pike from the water and swung it... (he missed any Imperials and shredded the tower instead... where's the pic when you need it)

Image

The Bulls were then lead across the river, their ability to move as a unit even after having spent time to regroup augmented by the general's presence.

Imperials

Image

The left flank was assaulted by the elite swordsmen and halberdiers alike.

Image

A few dead on either side was the result of the struggle.

Image

The purple mage attempted to cast a fireball...

Image

But crit failed and set his head on fire!

Image

"Aagh!" (one HP down)

Image

Most of the ranged skeleton's reaction fire landed around him but one got him pretty badly and finally killed him off.

Image

Pissed off at his death, the swordsmen then broke formation and charged with a mighty cry...

Image

What ensued was a slaughter. Four zombies were cut to shreds and two swordsmen fell in the reactions.

Image

When the bitchy witches and the necromancess reacted, however, the attack met it's end.

Image

There was a commotion at the back of the army. The Imperial Bodyguard prepared to enter the fray. Spears were lowered and visors were closed: the moment of Cales' charge was finally at hand!

Image

Pikes were lowered to greet them as they thundered towards the Bull army.

Image

But it was to no avail: phalanx were tossed around and the momentum of their charge allowed each cavalryman to kill his target. 4 Bulls down. The only Imperial casualty was a horse.

Image

Sharlena cast a spell on the cannons. It succeeded: her magic would guide the cannonballs upon the right track.

Image

It worked: two water demon crossbowmen were blasted to pieces.

Wait... we forgot someone, didn't we?

The Pumpkin

Image

He charged and killed the Impaler sergeant. I roll a dice each turn to see who he'll charge and his kills count as kills for the water demons (though they don't control him and he might attack them too).

Accepting orders.

Wow, that went better than I thought it would and by all accounts I reorganised just in the nick of time. I think I'm beginning to warm to unit tactics. I'm really pumped about this battle. I love futuristic battles but at heart I'm a hack and slash kind of guy.

Yeah thanks. Italy was okay overall.

I still need orders from following factions:
- Water Demons
- Imperials
- Dwellers.
The first person to send orders for either of them has them. I'll take control of a faction myself if one is left but I hope I won't have to.
